"I'm no different actually" she says.
I look at her in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"I'm away from my mom. My dad died when she was still in pregnancy so she's a single mother working her ass off to support me. She works as a maid for this really rich family and for years my aunt would take care of me" she rolls her eyes.
"God I hate that woman. The nosiest and fussiest person on earth. She assumes I vape and drink and go clubbing because I'm a teenager when I don't. She seriously makes me go fuckin insane."
I chuckle a bit.
"Excuse me, did I laugh when you told your story?"
"Nope."
"Thank you." She continues. "My mom visits when she has the chance, which is terribly rare. She puts me in dancing because she thinks it will keep me busy and it does and I hate it. Sometimes.
I know my mom works hard so that she can keep banking in money to pay for my dance fees and uniforms. One day I just want her to quit her job and I'll expand my career to more than just dancing so that I'll be able to afford for the both of us."
"But will that make you happy?"
"Huh?"
"Will expanding your career make you happy?" I ask again.
"If it means I get to be with my mom, then sign me in" she sighs. I knew she only half meant what she said.
"It's okay" I smiled. "One day we both will be able to do the things that'll make us happy and we'll achieve our true dreams."
She smiled and simply nodded. I wanted to put in some hope in her, what you can call a small motivation to go towards happiness and not needs. Because what you want is sometimes what you need.
