The school bell rang for the last period and everyone rushed out into the halls to get back home. While I had to stay in school for some lousy detention. I walk towards the other end of the school, which was the opposite of where everyone was heading so I had to squeeze my way through the crowd.

Out of the noise I heard someone calling my name. I looked around and saw Hazel running towards me.

"Hey, can you tell Ruby I can't come today? My boyfriend made a last minute plan to hangout because I was busy the past weeks. Tell her that I'm really really sorry-"

My eyes widened. Fuck, her competition. It's today. Like an hour from now.

"D-Do you know where her competition is?" I ask.

"Yeah, it's near-"

"Can you text me the location? Like now." She nods and quickly sends me the address.

"Thanks, a lot. Gotta go, see you!" I said and scrambled out of the halls to the lot where my bicycle is. I grabbed it and cycled as quickly as I can to the location.

I remember Ruby complaining to me about how far her competitions usually are. And none of them is in town. "It takes around 15 minutes to 30 minutes to get to the destination" I remember her saying, and I remember I replied something like "That would be a pain for me to cycle to. But I'll do it regardless."

My breath increases every second and my legs start getting weaker as the mile passes by. But just thinking about how disappointed and sad Ruby will be when she sees that I'm not there after all the hype and promises I gave her restored all my energy.

It was already half past three and I was finally nearing the area. When I made it somewhere close to the venue I dropped my bicycle and went inside.
