The days afterwards went by like normal- for everyone else. I tried to seem unbothered by what I just did but inside I definitely wasn't.
I expected Ruby to search for me at school or even follow me back home and beg for my apology. Not in a bad way, but in a way that.. lovers do? You know, you chase one another for forgiveness when you fight.
But the problem is we are not dating, and she most probably does not have the same feelings for me as I do towards her. So I didn't know why I was expecting her to do those stuff.
Not gonna lie it fucking hurts that she doesn't make an effort to apologise to me. Or maybe I'm just putting too much hope on her and it ends up hurting my own stupid feelings.
Fucking hell.
No one asked you to fall in love with her, Ethan. So now you're hurt and it's all your fault. Not hers. She's no where near the reason why you're sad right now.
The weekend passed by like ass and so Monday came around. I didn't feel like coming to school early like I usually do, well the only reason I actually do is so that I get to meet Ruby early in the morning.
"Why are you late?" asks Hazel as I walked into the school building.
"What are you doing here?"
"There's a visitor coming today. He's one of the bigger sponsors that we have and he's coming in for a meeting. If you had come any later you would've embarrassed me AND the school's reputation. Go to class."
I huffed in annoyance and made my way to class. I walked as slow as possible to get as late as I can to class. I'm already 30 minutes late so I didn't matter anymore.
I entered class and was surprised to see the discipline teacher instead of our usual Calculus teacher. Everyone looked at me, some in pity and some were scoffing. Nothing new anyway.
"Ethan Walls" the teacher said. I didn't bother to remember her name so I slightly bowed and walked to my seat.
"Who said you could go to your seat??" she says.
"It's class, why else wouldn't I?" I'm already mentally exhausted from the weekend and it drained out all the energy for me to give a fuck about this damn teacher.
"You are 40 minutes late! Where is your detention slip??"
"At the office."
She abruptly slams the table.
"Talking with no sense of respect to a teacher AND terribly late to class. That deserves 3 hours of after-school detention. Go get your detention slip!"
I sighed and exited class to head to the office. This just had to happen. The first thing in the morning. On a Monday even. What the actual fuck.
I lazily entered the office.
"Good mor-"
"Just give me the damn slip" I cut her off.
"What? Detention?" asks the lady.
"There's no other reason I'd be here" I forced the most fakest smile on my face. She nods and grabs one out of her drawer.
"I haven't seen you in Detention for, like two months. Until now. What happened?"
"None of your business" I rolled my eyes and took the slip from her hands before going back to class.
