Detective Jeon Jungkook walked around the busy precinct, sipping coffee with one hand, his phone in the other. The sound of footsteps following him could be heard, and he didn't even need to look to know who it was.
It was Kim Taehyung.
Taehyung was as rookie as they come. He was new to being an officer and having a gun, let alone being a homicide detective. With many questions and screw ups, he was a nuisance, to say the least. Especially to senior detectives, like Jungkook.
Though they were only three years apart in age, Jungkook had been an officer since he was a teen and moved up in ranks fast. Now, he was the best homicide detective with the most closed cases in the precinct. There was only one case he hadn't closed...
Taehyung, being new, needed a partner. Since he was so clueless about the job, the Capitan of the precinct knew they needed him with an experienced partner. Much to Jungkook's oh-so-good luck, he was chosen.
So, after some thinking, Jungkook decided he would give Taehyung a chance. That thought was soon revoked after their first case together. That case ended three days ago.
Taehyung followed him around like a lost puppy, trying to gain any knowledge possible, hence why Jungkook didn't even need to look behind him to figure out who was following him. However, Jungkook was in no mood to stop walking for chit-chat until he got to his destination.
"Do you find me more trusting yet?", Taehyung asked from behind him. Jungkook could've laughed at the question.
"No", he replied with a sigh, taking a sip of his coffee," You're still a rookie"
"That's not fair! I worked my way up to homicide detective. I went through training. I'm a pro" Taehyung whined before looking a bit proud at his last sentence. Once again, Jungkook didn't need to turn around to know the look of pride on his face. He stopped at his desk, causing Taehyung to bump into him, making the older grit his teeth. He set his coffee down and faced the rookie.
"Yes, Kim, and on your first job with me, the one I trusted you on, you almost got me shot", he said through gritted teeth.
"Technicality", Taehyung mumbled, crossing his arms.
"Okay, well, just fall in line. I am your boss", Jungkook said, turning around to sit at his desk.
"No, Jeon, you're my partner", Taehyung huffed, a slight pout evident in his voice.
"Right, think what you want", Jungkook said, sarcasm lacing his tone.
"That's what I know", Taehyung muttered before speaking in an audible to Jungkook tone," So, what will it take to make you trust me again?"
Jungkook opened his mouth to respond, when his desk phone rang. He gave Taehyung a fake apologetic look and picked it up.
"Jeon", he answered, informing the person of whom they were talking to. He grabbed a pen and paper and wrote down an address," Okay be right there"
With that, he hung up the phone, grabbed his coffee, personal phone, jacket, and stood up, pushing past Taehyung, who was hovered closely over his desk.
"So?", Taehyung asked.
"Murder", Jungkook responded plainly, starting to walk away towards the exit.
"I meant the trust thing!", Taehyung called after him before rolling his eyes, and running after the latter.
