valentine's day - NCT, markhyuck

𝓥 the big shock 𝓥

the next day, i went to school nonchalantly, still shocked of the past events. (well i know it is not what we can call an event, but nevermind.)

at midday, i ate at the canteen with jisung and another friend of mine called jaemin. the three of us kept rambling about how school was boring and everything until i introduced an interesting topic. 

i knew jaemin had a crush on jeno, because, first he was obvious, and second he had confirmed it one night at a party, when he was a bit drunk, but he doesn't know that... i also knew that jaemin was in class with lucas, which meant he shared his classes with mark also. and it's mark i'm interested in. (as if you didn't know.)

"jaem? you know mark lee, right?" i asked. 

"of course i do dummy, he's in my class. plus i have a little affair with him right now." he smiled slightly. i couldn't help but get jealous at his remark, but i quickly continued asking my questions, forgetting about this little irrevealent detail. 

"and i'm not going to ask if you know lee jeno, because the answer will be obvious." i teased him. jisung chuckled with his mouth full when he saw jaemin's face getting red. it was obvious that he liked jeno, even if he thought nobody noticed it. but the worst (or the best) was that non solum he liked jeno, sed etiam he had also feelings for another guy of his class called renjun (yes, there are some latin words in the middle of my sentence, but i find it good to use a dead language in every day's life). and the best part was that renjun was totally aware of it, and even like him back, but they didn't want to become a couple because renjun also liked jeno, and they didn't want him apart from their relationship. I agree, all that shit is too complicated for me, but I totally respect them and hope they'll end up together very soon. 

"yess... what do you want?"

"do you perhaps know what is relation with mark is?" jisung and jaemin raised their eyebrows in sync, scaring me a bit. 

"hum... yes i do" jaemin hesitated, not quite understanding my question. 

"then what is it?" i asked envious. jisung was eying me strangely. 

"they're brothers." jisung declared.

brothers, brothers... BrOtHeRs !! that was one of the biggest shocks of my life, (and i'm not exagerating) but when i thought about it, everything took sense. that's why they went to canada together? that's why someone told me mark looked more like jeno than logan lerman. and most important... that's why they have the SAME LAST NAME!!. how the hell didn't i notice this earlier?! well, that's perhaps because here, half of the population's last name is lee, but anyways. 

"hum, hyuck? you're with us?" jaemin waved his hand in front of my eyes.

"how the hell did you know?!" i agressively asked jisung.

"i'm friends with jeno, remember? i even went to his house once for some presentation stuff years ago." 

"and you didn't even tell me?!"

"why would i tell you? it's nothing important."

"yes it is!" 

"do you perhaps have a tiny crush on that boy, donghyuck?" jaemin smirked. 

"no i don't. i just like to know who's sibling with who in the school."

"bullshit." jaemin said under his breath. "anyway, i need to go back to class, i have a test. see you later gyus." and with that he left with his tray.

right now i feel very stupid. 

i started asking this question to every single people i crossed paths with. "did you know jeno and mark were brothers?". and everybody answered yes, taking me for a mad man once again. how could i be the only person not to know?

during the break, i ran the quickest possible and collided with lucas, impatient to know if he also knew about all of this. "lu-cas... i- i have- a- ques-tion..!" i panted.

"wow, donghyuck, calm down two sconds, breathe, you're going to die." he ruffled my hair amused at my behaviour.

i took a deep breath, calmed myself and finally asked him. "did you know about mark and jeno being siblings?"

his smile dropped. "mark? and jeno? being siblings? like, brothers? you're kidding me right?"

"i'm not, i swear. i asked everybody! and they all said they were! well, i'm so relieved you didn't know either." 

"did jaemin and jisung know?" i nodded. 

lucas and i were both in shock. we kept thingking about it for all the remaining break time. after, i walked him to his class, so that i could maybe see mark. and when i saw him approaching, and then passing past me, without according me any kind of attention, i realised something.

i was falling for mark. i was slowly falling for a man that would never notice me...
