DINNER
I go back inside and walk out of the apartment. I ride the elevator to the top floor and walk out onto the rooftop. Oh my god. I see Liam awaiting me with a candle light dinner.
"Surely, enemies don't have candle light dinners, Liam." I say with a frown.
"Enjoy your last moments, Sky. I'm only being nice." He says. I laugh.
"You? You're being nice? I never knew that that word existed in your dictionary." I say between fits of laughter.
"Ok...ok... yeah, it was worth a try. Yeah, I just can't seem to make the whole nice thing work. Anyways, you wanted to see me for other matters so sit down and act like you appreciate the whole candle light set up." He says with a smile. If it weren't for Xander, I'd say Liam's charming. I sit down and look up at him.
"Even though I know exactly what you're about to ask me, ask me anyway." He says with an amused grin.
"What's the point in that?" I ask.
"Because I want to hear it from you." He says with a cocky smile.
"Alright. So was I right in assuming you wanting me to make the first move, Liam?" I ask. His smile grows wider.
"Yes, Sky, but this is the first move."
"What do you mean?" I ask confused.
"The first move is that you chose to meet with me. I happen to have another note for you. It will be the second move. You'll be able understand how to go from there." He says with a cryptic gleam.
"So I have a chance of not dying?" I ask.
"I'm sure you're going to die either way, but games are fun, Sky." He says.
"What if I don't want to play this game?" I say back with a bit of fire.
"Then, I'll have to put a bullet between your pretty eyes right now. Now, there's no fun in that, is there?" He says.
"Are you blackmailing me, Liam?" I ask with a bit of disgust.
"I'm not white mailing you, am I?" he says with a laugh. I roll my eyes. He pours me a glass of wine and I take it from him willingly. I sip at it cautiously as I stare at him. "Jeez, I didn't poison it, Sky. So stop shooting daggers at me with your eyes." He says with the roll of his eyes.
"It is good wine. I have to admit that. So, this mysterious note of yours? Do you plan to give it to me anytime soon?" I ask as I arch an eyebrow.
"I did plan to give it to you after this wonderful extravagant dinner I had planned, but I have a feeling you want to cut to the point."
"I'm glad you came to that realization, Liam. Good job." I say to him as he hands me the note. He rolls his eyes at me and I smile. I gently tear it open and take out the beautifully folded note.
COME ON, SKY. GAME IS ON. DON'T YOU WANT TO PLAY? THIS IS EVERYTHING. BE CAREFUL, WHAT YOU DECIDE TO DO. YOU MIGHT BE LUCKY. UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES, YOU MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE. OR IT COULD BE THE END.
It leaves me puzzled, but I stuff it into my pocket anyway. What does it mean? How is this the second move?
"You're not going to explain it to me, are you?" I ask.
"I would, but I have absolutely no clue." He states.
"But you said, that I would understand after this note!" I exclaim.
"About that...I was told by my client to tell you that." He says.
"Aren't you dating her?" I ask with a sigh. I think the wine is getting to my head.
"Yeah, but you pretty much get in the way of us actually having a date." He says with the roll of his eyes. I snicker.
"Good to know, I'm screwing up your love life, yet again." I say with another sip of wine.
"That you did, Sky. You must be so proud to leave me high and dry." He says. I roll my eyes.
"It's getting late and I think the drug on Xander is wearing off." I say as I get up. I sway just a tiny bit from my alcohol consumption.
"I'm sure we'll be meeting again, Sky." He says as he crosses his arms. I turn around and almost forget to ask him something.
"How did you fix my cuff problem?" I ask.
"Every answer comes with a price." He says.
"And what would that be?" I ask.
"Maybe a kiss?" he says. I frown at him.
"You men repel me. John's married and he says that he loves me and then you have a girlfriend who also happens to be your client. Then you want me to kiss you? Are they not good enough for you two? What the hell...you just disgust me. I feel bad for these innocent women. As thankful as I am for you fixing my electrical cuff problem, it is not worth a kiss. I am loyal to Xander, thank you very much..."I state as I walk into the elevator. Those poor women! I mean, not even knowing that their man is looking at other women? That's just sad. I make it downstairs to Xander's apartment and thank god he's still asleep. I need someone's help.
