THE RELAXED CHAPTER
Is it just me or did his arms wrap around me just a bit tighter? I lean into his side a bit further and he breathes in the scent of my hair. Then we reach his apartment. He opens the door and guides me inside. Before, I never really had the chance to look around, but now I get to take it all in. I settle on the sofa as he walks into the kitchen. I look at the frames lining the elegant shelf next to the sofa and pick up a particular frame. I believe it's Jemma laying upside down on a sofa and wait...oh gosh...is that Xander?! He has braces and glasses. He's sitting next to Jemma. This leaves me in laughter. He hears me giggling and strolls towards me.
"Is...is...that you, Xander?!" I ask between fits of giggles. I watch his expression as he snatches the frame from my hand, he blushes just at the slightest. I laugh even more.
"Don't look at that...!" he scolds as he turns back around and walks back towards the kitchen. I follow him.
"As nerdy as you look, I think you're adorable." I say as I come behind him and wrap my arms around him. He turns around and looks more relaxed. He grasps my arms and pulls me closer.
"You think? I already know that, Sky." He says as his breath tickles my ear. I shake my head at him and roll my eyes.
"Don't think I've had enough of your arrogant attitude today, Mr. Smith?" I ask as I move one of my hand to my hip. He steps even closer to me.
"Oh, you'll never have enough of it will you, Miss Hudson?" he says with a knowing smile and a low tone. I blush.
"Xander, can we spend time together?" I ask with a pleading tone which turns out to be more of a whine.
"Spend time together?" he questions.
"Yes, Xander...the thing that normal couples tend to do." I say deadpan.
"But, there's nothing normal about us, Sky," he says.
"So, you don't want to spend time with me?" I ask frustrated. "Xander, just because we're not a normal couple doesn't mean we can't spend time together! I mean it's a universal thing!" I say to him. I tend to give these speeches often. I give him an annoyed look. He tucks a piece of hair behind my ear and cups my chin with his hand, then he looks down at me.
"Of course I want to spend time with you, Sky." He says as he leans in. "I just didn't agree with your definition. There's nothing I'd rather do than spend time with you." He says as he presses a firm kiss to my forehead. It only lasts a second before he pulls away. I frown up at him. "Alright, Sky, how do you want to spend time with me?" he asks with a low tone that makes me blush a thousand shades darker.
"Let's be cliché." I sate.
"Cliché?" he asks.
"I mean you said that we're not a normal couple. I mean you did wreck my vacation, so why can't we act like shit doesn't exist and be a cliché, normal couple for once?" I say.
"Ok, well then what's your cliché idea of spending time with your boyfriend, Sky?" he asks with a sigh.
"Jeez, Xander it's the most cliché in the book. Why don't you guess?" I say with the roll of my eyes.
"Alright, Miss drama queen..." he says
"That makes you the drama king...you realize that right?" I retort.
"Ok. Let me guess...Going to the movies? Stargazing? Moonlight walk? Restaurant?" he asks.
"Moonlight walk? Stargazing? Really, Xander? I don't deal with all that sappy crap. Man, you sure know a lot about cliché than I would've thought...No...I was going to say, let's just spend time together and watch a movie." I conclude.
"Ok, good...for a second I thought you'd say something giry and absurd." He says with a relieved breath..
"Don't have such low expectations." I say.
"I'm choosing the movie," he says as he realizes to change the subject. He motions for me to sit on the sofa. I sit on the sofa and settle down as he sits beside me. I throw my legs up and he tucks me into his side as he fiddles with the remote and starts to scroll through movies. Then his movie of choice starts to play.
"Bruce Lee, Xander?" I ask with laugh as I look at him.
"Ok...ok...I'm not stupid, and I know this isn't the most romantic choice, but I know you're no like that are you, Sky?" he says with defense.
"I love Bruce Lee, don't get me wrong, but I'm questioning the fact that the first date you have with your girlfriend would be to watch Bruce Lee." I say.
"Well, what can I do...I've got a kickass girlfriend." He says. I give him a pec, He totally deserves a point for that.
"My dad watched all the Bruce Lee movies with me when I was 7 or 8. I've loved action like this since." I say.
"Good to know we agree on something," he says as he wraps an arm around me. I give him the eyebrow. "What? I can't wrap my arm around my girlfriend?" he asks defensively.
"I just didn't know the lengths of cliché you'd go to." I state. He just squeezes my shoulders tighter and I let him. Surprisingly we get through half the movie and actually pay attention. I get really excited when the action starts. Xander gives me the most amused expression and I blush. His fingers play with my curls. Occasionally we look at each other and look at each other adoringly. An outsider would probably call it dreamy eyes, but I beg to differ. Nothing about our relationship is dreamy. I think that we get to the end of the movie, but I wouldn't know because I fall asleep. All I remember is his arm around me and the feel of his warmth.
