I looked over at my now silent best friend. He was staring at me with a blank face. Suddenly he smiled and licked my cheek, reminding me that I still didn't wipe the syrup off of my face. It would have totally grossed me out if I wasn't so surprised.

"You taste like pancakes." He smiled. His mind must have caught up with his actions because he grew visibly embarrassed. "I-I'm sorry... That was weird... I shouldn't have done that, I'll just go." He starts to get up but I grab his wrist.

"Please don't leave. I have nobody else to talk to. Jeff's a douchebag, Ben won stop scaring me when I play my video games, Jane is being moody again, Sally's playing with Daisy-May, and Masky won't let me talk to Hoodie. Without you, I have nothing left..." I say as my eyes start to prickle with tears. I started to twitch and it only fed my distress. "Don't leave me... please, don't leave me..." I whispered as a few tears started to fall.

I look up at Toby and he sat back down. A hopeful smile started to grow on his face. He put a hand on my cheek and wiped the tears away with his thumb. "It's okay. I wouldn't ever leave a princess in anguish. Especially my P-Princess Patches." He said with a jolt.

"Hey Marie, want to go play hopscotch? We could play some tag?" He said with a smile that soon broke to a frown when he realized his antics weren't working. "Or maybe... hide and seek?" He asked with a cheerful smile. He knows that I love to play hide and seek and to be honest, it caught my attention.

"Want to play candy for truth instead?" I asked with a returning smile. Candy for truth was kind of like a quiz game where you put a bowl of candy in the middle of you and your opponent and ask each other questions. Whoever gets the most candy at the end wins, and then you eat it all together. It's a game we came up with when we first became friends. He and Hoodie were the ones that found me in the woods behind my neighborhood. I don't know why I was in the woods, all I could remember is that I was running away from fire... I think?

Toby smiled back at me and grabs a big bag of Jolly Ranchers from a drawer in my nightstand. I get my glass bowl off of my desk and sit it down in front of me. Toby sat across from me and filled the bowl. "We're best friends, I've known you for three years. I know for a fact that I'll win!" He said with a cocky tone.

"Alright then, Mister Sassypants. I'll start you off with something easy. What's my full name?" I asked with a smile.

He laughed. "You're name is Angel Marie Patches. We don't know your birth surname, so I bestowed you with the most fitting and prettiest name ever, Patches. I did it because you look like a cute little patchwork doll!" He smiled and took a Jolly Rancher from the bowl. "My turn! When's my birthday?" He asked with a sly smile as if he could trick me.

I acted as if I had to work hard to remember. "Ummmm... It's... April 28th, '96. At least, I think..." I gave a coy grin as I took a candy from the bowl.
