Lucas's P.o.V.-
I got roughly about five hours of sleep last night and it really shows. The dark circles under my eyes along with the messy hair makes me look like I could be straight from the Walking Dead. I walk in the living room and see my dad passed out on the couch, with bottles surrounding him. Seeing him like that makes me wonder what it would be like if my mom was around. I still have flashes of memories of her, but the older I get the harder it is to remember her. If only she would've stayed, maybe then I wouldn't be so fucked up. I get in my car and go 95 on the freeway to get to school. Man does it feel good to move so fast, as if nothing else matters but me and the road. Until I see the red and blue lights flashing behind me. I am fucked. I pull over and roll down my window preparing for the worst.
"Goodmorning Officer Clark." I say reading his badge name.
"Goodmorning, I am gonna need to see your license. Are you aware young man of how fast you were going?" Officer Clark asks.
"I am so sorry Officer Clark I was in a rush to get to school and didn't realize how fast I was going." I say lying through my teeth.
Officer Clark goes back to his car with a unbelieving look laced on his face. In some miraculous way he notices I'm lying. Fuck my life. It is less than five minutes before he is back at my window with my licenses and a slip of paper in his hand.
"Look I have some pretty bad news, I can tell your a good kid but I am gonna have to suspend your licenses for six months since you were so far over the speed limit." He says.
Literally my worst nightmare is coming true. And I am late for school.
"Officer is there something you could do, this is the only way I can get to school." I asked getting emotional.
"I am sorry son. What school do you go to?" he asks strangely.
"Silver Lake Highschool sir. Why? If you dont mind me asking." I say.
"Since you dont have any other way of getting to school I can get you ride if you'd like. My daughter happens to go to school there." He says nicely.
"That is really nice of you sir, but I wouldn't want to intrude. Plus I was hoping you might can let this go as a warning." I say smiling extra hard.
"Well I cant do that based on your record, but I can see you are a good kid." he says while handing my a copy of the yellow paper in his hand and my licenses.
He has a copy of both the slip of paper and my licenses, but the other card he hands me is his phone number.
"My number is on that card, give me a call if you decide to take me up on that offer. Your court date is on the yellow paper, it will determine whether you get you licenses taken for six months or permanently. Only way you could get them taken away permanently is if you speed within the days before your court date. So I would reccomend you not do that." He says sternly.
He tells me to drive safe and get to school without speeding before getting in his patrol car and driving off. I am left speechless. I put the papers in the passengers seat then I start the car and start driving. I dont know what I am going to do, but it seems like I am going to have to give Officer Clark a call, since my dad doesnt even have his licenses. And like hell am I going ride that damn bus. I go 50 the rest of the way to school which was 5 under the speed limit. I am ready to get this shitty Tuesday over. I think as I enter the double doors of Silver Lake High.
