Lucas's P.o.V.-
I hate this Matt guy so much and I don't even know him. After telling me about the night he destroyed her car, she told me he had been released from juvy Monday. And I understood why she was upset. Man am I an asshole."Can I hold you?" I ask Anastasia.
"Yes." She says.
I hold her tightly, but then I pull away and study her. She looks at me confused.
"Can I kiss you?" I ask.
"Yes." She says.
I cup her elegant face into my palms and place a gentle kiss upon her lips. If only she knew how perfectly imperfect she was. I pull away and she smiles.
"I should probably go before I wake your whole neighborhood up." I say.
"Stay. I mean please, stay." She says quickly.
So I do. I stay until I see her fall asleep, then just I smoothly slipped out her window careful not to wake her. She had opened up to me tonight and now I knew I would do anything to protect her. My birthday is tomorrow, Friday the 13th of October. My dad used to tell me I was cursed because of it. I don't disagree with him; so we don't celebrate it. When I got home from Anastasia's house my dad was no where to be found. Probably went to get some liquor, or whatever type of alcohol he can get his hands on. I took a shower before heading to my room to sleep. My mind kept repeating Anastasia's words over and over, until I started to feel physically sick. Finally my eyes fell heavy and sleep came upon me.
Beep, beep, beep. I reached over and unplugged my arm. I decided since it was my birthday that I would play the dangerous game of five more minutes. But we all know how that worked out. I woke up once more to my phone going off. I answered it tiredly, being I didn't ever go to sleep till around 4."Hello?" I answered the phone in a rough just woke up voice.
"Dude where the hell are you, we should've left ten minutes ago!" Anastasia says urgently.
"Oh shit" I say at the realization I had over slept.
"I'll be out in five." I say rushed.
As I throw on my clothes and brush my teeth one word keeps popping up in my head. Cursed. I head outside and hop into the car. Anastasia quickly pulls out and onto the highway. She reaches down and turns up the radio. Another Fleetwood Mac song came on. This time the song was more upbeat, something more my style. She started to dance and sing, and I shortly was able to join in with her. We harmonized between laughs the whole ride to school. We arrived with just a minute to spare, we both sprinted to class. Her long hair flowed down her back mesmerizing me. She had opened up to me last night, and yet she hardly knows me. Other than as the nice guy she takes to school. That must mean something. I leave first block and head to the bathroom before going to Biology. I be quick in the bathroom, although I do stop and talk to this guy from my Finance class. I ask him about our homework and what all was done while I was out the last four days. He tells me I didn't miss much, which relieves me. I walk in Biology and see Mrs. Bradshaw is playing the morning announcements as usual. That's when I remember, they call out peoples birthdays. And sure enough my name is one of the names listed. I look back at Anastasia and she gives me a look of disbelief. She looks down and I feel my phone vibrate. It's a text message from her.
"I can't believe you didn't tell me it was your birthday!" She said.
"Sorry. Didn't think it was that big of a deal." I reply.
"A big deal!! Party tomorrow night. My house. Everyone's invited. Plus my parents aren't home so it should be a banger! :)" She says.
My fears have know been confirmed. I was going to have to go to this party and celebrate something I hate. And I sure as hell wasn't going to tell her no, especially seeing the smile it had put on her face.
"Sounds good." I reply with a thumbs up.
