Fallyn reached a secluded hill, near the edge of the Hadarac, nearly a week after her escape. Once there, she released the stag that had carried her and sat wearily on the warm sand.
"I have missed you dearly, little one."
Fallyn raised her eyes to see a black shape slowly descend towards her. Soon, a dragon - black with ruby-red eyes, and almost twice the size of Saphira - landed gently nearby and she rose to greet the great beast.
"Fang... I've missed you as well."
"Word of your supposed death has not reached the elves yet," the dragon told her, as the elf clambered onto the saddle on her back. "And I admit that I tricked one of the elves into saddling me when I got your word."
"I assume you made a big show of your distress?"
"Of course," the dragon snorted, leaping into the dark sky. "They would have suspected otherwise. What of your weapons?"
"My sword and I were parted during the initial ambush," Fallyn explained as the dragon turned westward. "I suspect it is in the hands of the Varden and will return home before long."
"And the little fang?"
"I suspect the Bald ones have taken it," she answered sullenly. "Perhaps they seek to make a mockery of what it is to wield that fang."
Fang snapped her jaws, a frustrated growl escaping her.
"We have waited for so long, but now we must wait longer," she lamented. "I have long dreamt of the day that we no longer need to hide like rabbits."
"As have I," Fallyn smiled sadly. "Which is why we must go back. There are many things we need to retrieve so that we can bring the chaos of Thedas to Alagaesia."
"We shall bring the storm of change to Alagaesia," Fang hummed. "I look forward to sinking my teeth into that egg-breaker!"
"And I am eager to watch the life fade from his eyes," Fallyn said slowly, as a snarl slipped from her throat.
The ocean lay before them - dark and ominous, the moonless and starless sky blending in with its dark depths on the horizon.
"Soon," Fang growled, her white teeth flashing in the darkness.
