Field Trip to SI

Peter had fallen asleep at his desk in science again. The topic wasn't necessarily boring, but the teacher, Ms. Warren's voice was so monotone, not to mention that Peter actually knew all of the information already. Interning at SI under Tony Stark meant that you had to have a lot of knowledge about science and math, not to mention being his personal intern.

Now for a little bit of background about Peter's internship. It started as just a cover for his Spider-Man duties used to excuse his frequent absences and tardies for school, but had morphed into a real internship directly underneath Mr. Stark, or rather, Tony.

Back to the present. Ned shook Peter awake, and Peter blearily blinked his eyes open. "Wassup, Ned?" He whispered.

Ned didn't respond, just discreetly pointed to Ms. Warren. Peter tuned in to what she was saying just as he heard the word "field trip".

"This Friday we will be taking a field trip to Stark Industries!" She said, actually sounding excited for once. "Make sure to get these permission slips signed by no later than Thursday after last period by a parent or guardian, or you will not be permitted to attend." She dropped a blue permission slip on each student's desk.

"How exciting is this, dude?" Ned said as the teacher walked out of earshot.

"Not very exciting, considering that I live there!" Peter said, his voice rising slightly in volume by the end.

"Hey Parker, I can't wait to see all of your pathetic lies get exposed!" Flash shouted from the back of the classroom. Peter, however, didn't respond, too preoccupied with the aspect of going on a field trip to his house.

The days passed by quickly, and soon enough it was the day of the field trip. Peter had gotten permission to 'get his own ride' to get to SI - just walking downstairs - because he had said that he lived closer to SI than the school. Technically, he did.

That was the only saving grace of the day - not having to ride on the old, slow school bus, and not having to deal with Flash for at least another half hour.

Because he didn't need a ride, Peter chose to sleep in a bit. However, his body wasn't used to sleeping in later, so he ended up actually oversleeping. He had just enough time to practically inhale a small banana and run into the private elevator. It was already 8:30, when the class was supposed to be downstairs by.

He stepped out of the elevator and sat in the lobby, barely a minute before the garish yellow school bus pulled up in front of the building. The class piled into the building, gawking at the architecture.

Peter walked over to join Ned at the front of the group, and saw Josh, one of his intern friends, walking over.

"Hello, Midtown and Peter! I'm Josh, and I'll be your tour guide for today. First things first we have to get you all your guest badges."

Josh walked over to reception with the group trailing behind, and picked up a small bin filled with white badges.

"These babies are your access key to the tower. You won't be allowed to go anywhere without a badge with a level of at least three to authorize yours, though, so don't go sneaking off on me!" Josh said, giving Peter a pointed look. Peter was notorious for running off in the middle of conversations, usually because of a forgotten project.

Josh passed out the passes to everybody except for Peter, which didn't go unnoticed by Cindy.

"Why doesn't Peter get a badge?" She said.

"That's because he doesn't need one! Anybody with a pass level above 7 doesn't need to carry a pass around because it would be a security risk."

"Now, everyone has to walk through this security scanner. Swipe your card and walk through the metal detector, and then we'll be all set for the tour!"

Everyone in Peter's class walked through, with Peter going last.

"Hello, Peter! Boss wanted to tell you that you're needed in lab 78B to help with the experiment as soon as you're free." FRIDAY said, scaring most of the teen's class.

"Okay, Fri," He said, slightly self-consciously as the whole class was staring at him.

"Now to the labs!" Josh exclaimed cheerfully, and directed the class to elevator. They headed up a couple floors before exiting.

For Peter, he didn't really pay attention to the labs they went to. These were low level labs, and the people in them weren't researching anything important, so he just kind of tuned out.

He started listening again when Josh said that they were next going to visit Tony Stark's personal lab.

Peter felt a bad feeling building in his gut. Not because of where they were going, but because of who would be there.

Tony never let anybody into his personal lab. Heck, it had taken Peter 2 months to get access. So, the reason the class was going there must have been for him to embarrass Peter.

The elevator beeped for each of the floors they passes, and Peter absentmindedly counted the beeps.

One, two, three, four...

The elevator stopped after 69, and the class stepped out. Loud rock music was blasting from the speakers around the large room, and stopped playing with a wave of Tony's hand.

He greeted the class with a signature smirk, wearing his mirrored glasses even though they were indoors.

"Hello, Peter and Peter's class!" The man said, walking over to Peter and slinging an arm around his shoulder.

Everyone in his class gaped at Peter, but Tony didn't remove the offending arm.

"Now, I'll show you around the awesome floor that is my lab." Tony walked forward, bringing Peter with him. He showed the class a couple projects that he was working on, and then they finally made it to the center of the room.

That was where Peter's station was.

"This here is Peter's station. As my personal intern, he helps with some projects, both mine and some from the lower level labs."

The class stared at Peter in awe. How did that average-seeming kid score a personal internship with Tony Stark and get a lab station in the same lab as him?

After embarrassing Peter enough, Tony let the class leave, keeping Peter though.

"Go on, then, that's the end of the tour. And, Ms. Warren, I believe it is? I'll be keeping Peter." He said, not leaving room for questions, although she wasn't going to question him anyways.

"Bye, Peter!" Ned said, waving before stepping back into the elevator with the class and Josh.

"Bye, Ned!" Peter said.

And that was the story of how Peter Parker took a field trip to his own house.
