You walked to the coffee shop with a pep in your step, you weren't sure why, but you felt like today would be a good day, so you decided to buy your team some coffee. You worked with the B.A.U in the FBI at Quantico Virginia. But it seemed that there were other things in store for you. Walking out of the coffee shop, you stepped in a wad of gum.
"No worries" You thought, you just wiped it off of your shoe and walked towards your car, only to find a ticket on your windshield. You sighed as you took it off and jumped into your car. You found yourself reading the ticked over and over again as you waited in traffic. Taking a sip of your coffee, you realized that they got your order wrong. You grimaced but still drank your coffee.
You finally came into the office, your hopes of having a good day dented, but you had a glint of hope that maybe talking to Spencer would brighten your day. Spencer Reid was your best friend. You were really the only one that didn't mind his rambles, in fact, you enjoyed them. He would always make you laugh, and his smile brought butterflies to your stomach. Okay, so maybe you had a slight crush on the genius. You smiled at the thought of seeing him. You began to walk towards his desk, his back facing away from you as he was having a conversation with Derek. You couldn't help but overhear them.
"W-what? No! I don't like Y/n at all! She's a nightmare to work with, and-and she's stubborn. She's really annoying. I don't understand how you can think that I like her." Spencer said. Right then and there, your whole mood collapsed as you felt your heart break. Where you really that bad?
"Reid." Derek whispered as he stared at you. Spencer turned around and saw you, fear flashed in his eyes for a moment.
"Y/n! I, uh hi." Spencer said awkwardly. You put on a fake smile, trying your best not to show how upset you were.
"Hey. I brought you guys some coffee." You said as you handed them their coffee.
"Thanks, mama. You're the best." Derek said with a smile, you smiled back.
"Y-yeah, thanks..." Spencer said as he took a sip. Your smile faltered a bit.
"N-no problem." You said as you began to walk away. Your shoulders slumped as you began to walk over to Penelope's office. You heard footsteps behind you. You turned around and found yourself staring at Spener.
"Uh hey...Y/n can-can I talk to you for a second?" Spencer said. You frowned a bit but kept your composure.
"Not right now Reid, I need to finish up delivering these coffees." You said as you continued to walked toward Garcia's office. Spencer stood there surprised
"You never call me Reid..." He mumbled under his breath. You ignored his comment and continued your way. You honestly didn't want to hear what he wanted to say. You were afraid he somehow found out about your crush on him and was disgusted by it, or that he's just been pretending to be your friend and he's finally sick and tired of it. You sighed as you went into Penelope's room.
"Who dares to come into the queen's lair?" Penelope said as she turned around in her chair. You smiled a bit and played along.
"Oh my queen, I have brought you a humble offering." You said as you did a small bow and handed her coffee to her. Her eyes gleamed with happiness.
"Oh, you're the best. Thank you, peasant." She teased. You chucked.
"Anything for you, my queen." You said as you bowed again and left the room before she could ask you what's wrong. You then gave some coffee to JJ, Emily, and Rossi. You walked toward Hotch's office when Spencer tried talking to you again.
"Y/n please, I really need to talk to you." Spencer pleaded, following you like a lost puppy. You put on a smile and shook your head.
"Hold on Reid. I need to give Hotch his coffee." You sighed as you headed into his office. Hotch looked up at you and raised an eyebrow.
"Is everything alright, L/n?" He asked, looking up from his paperwork.
"Yeah, everything is fine. I brought you coffee." You said with a smile. He gave you a very faint smile as you handed him his coffee.
"Thanks" Hotch said. You nodded and began to head out.
"Oh and L/n?" Hotch said before you left.
"Yes, sir?" You asked.
"We have another case, this one is urgent, would you mind telling everyone weels up in 30? I'll explain the case when we take off." Hotch explained, not even looking up from his paperwork.
"Yes, sir." You said before leaving. Not really looking where you were going, you bumped into Spencer. He grabbed your arms, steadying both of you, his chocolate brown eyes looking at you with surprise and sadness. Just as you thought your day couldn't get any worse...
"I-I'm sorry." You said quietly as your cheeks grew warm.
"Y/n I-" Spencer tried talking, but you cut him off.
"Hotch says we're leaving in 30, we have a case. He'll explain it when we leave. So we'll talk later, okay?" You said, not really meeting Spencer's eyes. He sighed.
"I-I need to go tell the rest of the team..." You said as you pulled away from Spencer's grip, leaving him standing there, with his tail between his legs.
