You woke up feeling groggy and tired from crying yourself to sleep. You checked your phone with a gleam of hope that Spencer texted you back. Your heart skipped a beat, discovering that you have one new message from him. You hesitantly opened the message, only to have your newly found hope dissolve.
Can't talk right now, I'll call you later. Sorry.
-Sent at 12:25 amYou didn't even bother replying. You got up and dragged yourself to the bathroom. You took a long warm shower, feeling less stuffy. You put on some leggings and threw on a sweater two sizes too big and make your way to the kitchen. You didn't feel like having anything to eat, so you just ate a banana and sat down on the couch to watch Netflix. A few hours passed, bored out of your mind you decided to go out to the garden and read outside. You picked up a book and headed outside, leaving your phone on the kitchen counter. Of course, someone had to follow you out. You sat down by a shady tree and got lost in your book. You were so immersed in your book you didn't even notice one of the guards trying to get your attention.
"Ms. L/n! Your phone's been ringing for a while now, do you want me to grab it?" The guard asked. You looked up from your book puzzled.
"No, it's okay Halpert. I'll check it right now." You said as you got up. You gave him a small smile before heading in. You picked up your phone to see two missed calls from Spencer. Your phone pinged, notifying that Spencer sent a message.
Why aren't you answering me?
Are you ignoring me?
You scoffed. Now he wants to talk? After two weeks of radio silence, he thinks you're ignoring him? You walked over to your room and closed the door for privacy. He called again. You answered.
"Sorry. I was busy. What's up?" You said
"Oh, you didn't answer me this morning so I thought you- never mind." Spencer said
"I called just to see what you wanted." He said in a rather sour tone.
"Spencer are you okay? Look, we don't have to talk right now I-" You were interrupted
"No no, just tell me what's going on." Spencer in a rather monotonous tone
"N-nothing I- I just missed talking to you. You haven't talked to me in weeks and...It just...doesn't feel right..." You replied truthfully
"Y/n..." He grumbled.
"You know how busy our job gets! What do you want me to do, take time out of my day, time that I could spend helping catch a killer just to say hi to you? That's selfish!" He snapped. His tone startled you.
"Spencer I-"
"No- don't start with this! I know exactly where this is going. Just because you aren't working right now doesn't mean anything has changed! The only thing that has is that you won't leave me alone!" He said with a bitter tone. Tears welled up in your eyes and your blood boiled.
"Leave you-what?! First of all, I know! I know how hard our job is! But have you forgotten that some serial killer is obsessed with me is out there free? That any day he might find me? And second, I'm scared, Reid. I'm so scared. All I want is just for you to be there for me. Guess that's too selfish, huh?" You shouted.
"You know what?" You sighed. "I'm done with all of this. I'm done with you ignoring me, I'm done with having this- this psycho trying to kidnap me and probably kill me, and I'm done being cooped up in here! I'm losing my god damn mind here! It's like I can't- I-I can't-" You started to hyperventilate.
"Y/n...Y/n, are you-"
"I'm-I'm fine. I'll...I'll stop "being selfish", a-and let you work in peace, okay?" You said holding back a sob. Tears fell down your face and onto your shirt.
"Y/n wait-" You hung up and tossed your phone on the nightstand. You fell onto the bed and screamed into a pillow. Your whole body shook with sobs. How could he say something like that? All you wanted was some support. Was that really too much to ask? You looked up to your phone, tears blurring your vision. You got multiple messages from Spencer, asking for you to call him back. You just put your phone on silent and ignored him. You just stayed in bed for the rest of the day, just watching movies, playing games, anything that made you get your mind off Spencer and away from your phone.
Before going to sleep, curiosity got the best of you. You checked your phone and found that you had 10 missed calls from him and 42 texts, 13 messages from Garcia, 5 from Morgan, and 4 from Emily. You sighed and ignored all of them. You wished you could just be taken away from this horrible situation...Little did you know that was gonna happen all too soon.
