Zara slid down the wall she was leaning against, all her strength and courage drained from her. Her tear drenched doe eyes were haunted by the horrible event she had witnessed. Her father was behind closed doors in the Emergency Room, only a few feet away from were she was sitting on the floor.
She knew, till her dying day she would never be able to forget her parents face, specially her dear fathers face. The shame and pain, in his eyes before he fainted should never grace a fathers face. Specially her dear fathers, who always proudly explained to everyone his blessing that was bestowned upon them in form of his dear daughter Zara.
In her heart she prayed to her Lord to make everything right, to make her father healthy and help her family in this hardship that was placed for them. They said through every hardship, comes ease from Allah.
"Family Khan?"
She jumped up at the sound, and her brother came forward while her dear mother closed her eyes and tightly clutched her praying beeds. It was the doctor.
"The patient is stable, but let me warn you do not give him any stress and soon enough we can start with the cancer treatment."
I closed my eyes and thanked the Lord, Ammi sobbed and bhai hugged her.
"Thank you so much doctor and dont worry we will take care of it." Bhai hugged ammi and patted my head before leaving with the nurse to fill out the paperwork.
"Ammi please you should eat something.." But the gentle voice of the Angel was interrupted by a slap. Zara clutched her cheek and starred with tear dreched eyes at her mother.
"Dont you dare call me Ammi, why are you still here you should have gone with your Lover."
"Ammi please let me explain, I would never..." But before she could even explain herself, her frail Ammi interrupted her with a bitter laugh.
"Yes, yes explain because you have not caused us enough heartache for causing your fathers Heart Attack know you want to kill me too?"
"I should have had an abortion when I was pregnant with you, you are nothing but a Bad Omen."
The gentle Angel who could never hurt a fly let alone her parents, cried by the hurtful words that came out of her Mothers mouth, but her mother was far from away from stopping and not even aware anymore that they in a hospital and everyone was starring and giving the gentle girl hurtful and judging looks.
"Nobody will ever want to marry a girl like you.."
Before her Mother could even deliver more hurtful words to the gentle soul, she was interrupted by a voice.
"Behen-Ji thats enough."
An elegant lady whoose figure was draped in a sari came to stand still, upon listening to the hurtful words, which were being delived from a mother to her daughter it was giving her a flash back of the painful past.
The Lady came and stood beside Zara and hugged her from the side.
"Daughter are never a burden and should never be seen as a Bad Omen and if you are worrying about Marriage dont worry I will make her my Bahu, my Nephew will marry your daughter and thats Faiza Shah Rehmans promise to you."
