" What do you mean you are dating ? Do you honestly expect me to believe this nonsense ?" My mom was shouting so loudly on the phone that I had to hold my phone at a distance in case my hearing would be damaged.
" Mom you remembered how Aiden rescued me from that guy who tried to kill me ? That's when I realized I had feelings for him. " I felt dirty lying to her like that. But if I told her the real reason I was hanging around Aiden she would whisk me away from home forever.
" I wanted to come back home as soon as I can but Sasha wants me to stay. Sarah she's pregnant."
" What ?! Oh my God! " I clamped a hand to my mouth. I never knew the prospect of becoming an aunt could make me this happy. Mom put Sasha on the phone and we had one long chat both of us crying tears of joy.
I was now living in an apartment that belonged to Aiden apparently. It made me feel safe as the door could only be unlocked with a password. Also there were cameras everywhere and tight security as only the wealthy lived here.
The day after I shifted here I finally mustered up the courage to go back to college. It felt like it was my first day there. Aiden came to pick me up as we felt it would seem odd if we came separately. We traveled down the same streets past the same buildings yet everything felt so different.
As I looked at Aiden sitting besides me impeccably dressed the light reflecting off his silver Tag Heur watch, I couldn't help but feel more than a little self conscious. Our pairing was so odd I bet even a child could see through our act.
The college parking lot was empty. Thank God. But as we entered the building the whispers and the stares started.
" Lighten up and smile. It's going to be ok. " Aiden whispered to me as he grabbed my hand and led me through the college building. It felt weird holding his hand like this. His strong and firm hand on mine made me feel secure. And I suddenly started feeling confident. I actually smiled at the at the students who stared at me instead of feeling intimidated.
Finally Blair sashayed towards us flipping her long mane of blonde hair behind her back.
" I remember you used to say you only took care of Sarah because she was like family. Tell me Aiden did you ever actually think of her as a sister, or was there something going on between you even then ?"
I blushed while Aiden replied confidently," I always used to care about her very deeply. But it was only recently that I realized it was because I had feelings for her. "
The crowd of students which had gathered around us to listen in on our conversation started whooping. I probably looked as red as a tomato.
In class girls kept coming to me, congratulating me and telling me how lucky I was etc. To them I must look like nothing short of a modern day Cinderella. I thought back to what Aiden had said about him having feelings for me. I knew it was all part of the drama. But I couldn't help but wonder how it would feel to have someone who would love me like that.
I had always feared getting into relationships mainly because I was afraid of getting hurt. Sasha would say it was because I had never met someone who I liked enough to risk getting hurt for.
But now a tiny part of me wondered how I would react if things were different between me and Aiden. If he actually did ask me out what would I say.
And there was the fact that I didn't want to admit even to myself. That a part of me was disappointed that those words that Aiden had uttered were a lie.
The ringing of my phone woke me up from my slumber. It was Sunday morning a time that I liked to spend lazing around in bed. The caller ID showed it was mom. I immediately picked it up.
