I finished my business in the bathroom as reality hit. How will my parents react? I'm only seventeen! What's going to happen to my school life? My social life? I gasped when another wave of emotions hit. How do I tell Nathan?
I tip-toed out of the bathroom and down the hall to my room. Shutting the door quietly, I picked my phone up off of my bed and texted Jade, 'SOS.' She was the only one I really trusted, and she'd know what to do.
Broken, I picked up my viola and started plucking away at a fiddle tune.
Thirty seconds after I started playing, my phone rang.
"Hello?" My voice was frantic and almost breathless.
"Hey! What's wrong?" She paused long enough for me to get just one word out so she could interrupt again. "Oh! Wait! What happened to you and Nate at the party? I couldn't find you."
"Um," I ran a hand through my hair, unsure of how to start talking, now feeling like the floor was going to swallow me. I kind of wished it would. "That's what I wanted to talk to you about."
"Oh my God! Did you guys-"
"Jade. I'm pregnant."
