"You look so beautiful, Tessa." Said Sophie. Beautiful, only because she could think of no higher form of praise to use to describe her friend.
Tessa was a stunning vision in the pale gold and white wedding gown she donned – a gift from Linette Herondale. The sleeves fell off Tessa's pale delicate shoulders and showed off her small waist before the gown flared out in a sea of soft gold petals.
Tessa wore a thin crown of orange blossoms on her head, and no veil.
Her grey eyes were bright, her cheeks flushed red with thoughts of Will waiting for her in the large hall of the Institute, soon he'd be her husband, and soon she'd be his wife.
She smiled to herself.
Tessa's lips were soft pink, and she bit them now and again from exhilaration and nerves, and the blood rushed back turning them blush-rose.
Will's wife. Her husband.
Her heart sang with the words like a mantra. A steady beautiful tune.
Sophie hugged Tessa quickly as everyone took their places for the ceremony to begin.
Will was all nerves himself.
His hair was unruly as always, black silk on top of black silk, and a hundred emotions seemed to course through him as he stood waiting for Tessa, none more so than joy.
Every nerve in his body sparked and his face lit up as Tessa walked into the room, his blue eyes shinning.
Will clenched his hands into a fist to stop them from shaking in anticipation, wishing there wasn't this much space between them.
Will remembered the first time he had seen Tessa, not realizing at first what he was feeling and then understanding all too well the emotions she instilled in him.
He felt alive looking at her, pulled towards that blaze of light that she was as if his entire existence depended on her shinning that light on him.
In that moment, that first moment, he had vowed to himself to protect her in any way that he could, to keep her safe. To love her.
She smiled shyly as she closed the space between them and Will's world seemed to explode with that brilliant light and he whispered her name as she took his hand.
"Will." Tessa responded.
