Tessa and Will stood half naked at the edge of the cliff. A lake lay far below them.
Tessa glanced at Will, blushing deeply at how little they were wearing, and yet... he was so beautiful to look at: he was tall, his body all lines and angles and lean muscled planes, and he was hers.
He was hers.
They held hands tightly. Will glanced at her and smiled. The Scottish wind rustled both their hair.
"You're not afraid?" He asked.
"Not when I'm with you." Tessa smiled. "Are you?"
Will's laugh cut the silence of their surroundings, "Not as long as you're safe."
"I'm ready." Said his wife.
He nodded.
They took a few steps back and still holding hands, run and jumped into the lake below.
Tessa's joyful and momentarily panicked scream punctuated the air as they plunged deep into the surprisingly warm water.
They sank below the surface, two angels falling slowly until Will took Tessa by the waist and swam them both to the surface.
Tessa wrapped her legs and arms around Will tightly as they came up for air, both laughing.
"Let's not do that again." Tessa's arms around his neck were so tight, and bobbing above the glassy surface of the lake Will kept her secure, and safe, as her chin rested against his wet shoulder.
Tessa understood that he was keeping them afloat, but somehow she felt that her arms around him also kept him safe. And she always wanted Will to be safe. Sometimes his walls fell away and his raw vulnerability tore at her heart, his endless kindness, and his passions.
Will was her angel, in every sense of the word, and Tessa caught herself watching him with a smile at times because he seemed almost unreal to her, like a beautiful phantom tethered to her and she to him; her so sure and in love with him, him so strong and steadfast.
Will moved his head so his blue eyes gazed at her, "What are you thinking?" He asked.
Tessa rubbed her nose against his. "Of angels." She spoke against his lips.
"You're the only angel, Tess." Will responded.
Tessa shook her head. "You can do better than that, William." And Tessa felt his body shift against hers and he found her lips with his own.
She responded immediately as she always did when he touched her, her skin set ablaze even with the water that hugged them.
She pressed tighter against him, her need for him overwhelming her, and he pulled them both under the surface of the water. His need just as great as hers.
If they never came up for air again Tessa didn't care. Tessa's mind, her body and her heart were full of Will. She was too happy.
She loved him with every iota of her being.
Her Will.
