Jughead looked down at the ground as he passed the cracked mirror in the dank school corridor, he knew it wouldn't help. His clothes hung loosely to his fragile frame as he made his way outside into the crisp autumn air. While his eyes adjusted to the light he noticed the slender trees lining the pavement, he thought it was funny, to be jealous of a tree. He felt like a stranger in his body, a snake ready to shed its skin. He felt heavy, glutinous, nothing he did seemed to change that. Even through his jacket pockets he could feel the lines of his stomach, it made him feel sick. so he lowered his head, drove his hands into his pockets and made his way home.
The stench of spirits was pungent, maybe even slightly worse than usual. Jughead scanned the flat for his Dad, pray that he would be left alone, things seemed to be looking up as the small spaced seemed to be vacant, he made his way over to the sofa, clearing the beer bottles off the table and pulling out is phone. He was about to zone out and enter the world of the internet when his phone started to vibrate, bringing him back to reality. "Rude" he thought to himself, "This better be important", he mumbled down the phone.
"Well somebodies in a good mood today", Archie teased
"oh, its you".
"were you expecting it to be one of your countless other friends"
"ouch", Jughead replied with a false sense of hurt in his voice.
"yeah yeah, anyway, do you wanna come over to mine, my Dad bought the new Alpachino movie, and we got pizza'.
"I actually already ate" he lied, hoping his freind wouldn't sense it, "but the film sounds good, see you in ten?"
"Yep, bye"
And before Jughead could answer, Archie had hung up leaving him alone with his thoughts, and a growling stomach.
