Archie slammed his front door, making the whole frame shudder. He kicked off his shoes leaving them in the middle of the corridor. He swore he could still smell smoke.
"Well hello my darling son, how kind of you to leave your shoes where I just hoovered. Do you fancy moving th-", Fred started.
"Im not in the mood ok Dad", Archie moaned as he made towards the stairs, floorboards creaking loudly under the heavy footsteps.
"Wait a minute, lets have a chat", Fred ordered, eyes soft.
"I Just wanna go upst-"
"Kitchen, now," he instructed, already turning his back, "Shoes first". Archie groaned loudly

"So do you want to start from the beginning," Fred asked, cup of tea in hand.
"Not really," Archie mumbled, eyeing the door. Fred waited patiently. "What if ... someone you knew really well, like really well, did something you never thought they'd do."
"Is this thing a bad thing?"
"Yeah, very bad. They did something that is offensive in the first place, but they didn't really know that it would effect somebody more because that person never told them, but now the person doesn't want to tell the other guy the thing because they now know how they feel about it." Archie sighed, popping up onto the table top.
"Do you think the other person meant it?" Fred suggested, leaning back against the counter.
"No, I mean, I don't think so. They were always so kind, and understanding. I didn't think they were like this."
"Was it their fault?"
"Of course, they said it. How could it not be their fault?" Archie shot back, forehead creased, lips parted.
"Well did they pick it up from somewhere else, was it in defence, were they trying to fit in. Im not trying to justify it, I'm sure from what you've told me it isn't excusable, but can you see it from their point of view?"
"They seemed like they really meant it," Archie sighed, "But I don't want to lose him." Archie cleared his through, hopping off the counter to put his mug in the sink. He watched the water rise, measuring the temperature with his little finger. "Its Jughead".
"I know", Fred continued in the same nonchalant tone.
"We had a fight."
"I know."
Archie swallowed, keeping his eyes fixed on the pooling water. "Im gay."
"I know," Fred continued, taking another sip. Archie whipped his head up, eyes wide, a childish grin spreading across his face.
"Seriously Dad?" he almost shouted, voice unusually high. He raised an eyebrow, "How long?"
"Probably longer that you", he joked, a smirk forming.
"Probably...", he muttered, smile softer now, "What should I do?"
"Thats up to you, but Id hate for you to lose such a close friend ."
"You knew that to, damn your good".
"Oh yeah," he grinned, patting him on the back, letting him make his way upstairs.
