Jughead turned his head away from the road as another can sped into the distance, its headlights burning into his retinas. His hands tapped frantically against his thighs. All he could think about was the number of calories that lay in his stomach at that very moment. The bread, the burger, the fries, the milkshake - stop. He had to stop this, he needed to think about something else. Anything else. He took some deep breaths trying to calm himself; it didn't work.
He burst through the door of his dad's trailer, only releasing when it was to late that maybe he should have been a bit quieter. He loitered in the doorway, ready to turn around at the first sight of danger, but nothing could be heard. Either his dad wasn't home or he was passed out in his room. Carefully this time, he proceeded though the door straight to the bathroom. He leant over the basin of the toilet, his hands still shaking. One finger, two fingers. There, he could finally relax.

Archie slowly made his way to the door way. He didn't know who would be coming round at this point in the day. Archie was taking the day off school because he was sick, he though that the term sick was an understatement, earlier he literally thought that he was going to die. But after sleeping for the entire day in a nest of blankets, he thought that it was probably unlikely. He swung the door open wide, turning his head to avoid the bright light that lay outside.
"Well you look like shit", a familiar voice chimed, a cocky smile plastered across his face. "You weren't in school, I was hoping maybe you'd been abducted, or hit by a car", Jughead mused.
"Well I'm terribly sorry to disappoint", Archie replied sardonically. "Hold on, were you so distraught that you came over to my house, during the middle of the day may I add, to check on me?", he continued, eyes wide, not nearly as bleary as before.
"Well you haven't actually let me in yet".
"Still debating the matter", Archie hummed as a wee yawn escaped his mouth, reminding him that he was too tired to hang about in the doorway all day. He made his way upstairs sluggishly, Jughead following close behind, grabbing the bow of tissues that lay strewn amongst the various family photos set on the saintly wooden end table by the door. Jughead felt pleased and strangely warm seeing that he could be found in nearly all of them. Like maybe he really did have a family.
Archie flopped onto his bed, not bothering to turn the lights on. The small gap between the curtains formed a soft golden line as the head of the bed. He lay spread out, head propped up against the headboard, eyes glowing in the gentle light. Jughead placed himself at the end of the soft mattress, leaning against the wall beside him. A pang of anxiety infiltrated his undisturbed mind. What was he doing here, would Archie tell him to leave, would he think it was weird, them being so close? Not that it had been weird before, but now it felt shameful, when the red head beside him had no idea of the thoughts that races through his mind.
Jughead began to fidget with the blanket and looking around the quite room. He was about to make an excuse to leave when Archie patted the space beside him, not bothering to open his eyes. Jughead stood up taking his shoes off and crawled into the space beside him, sliding under the covers. He placed his icy feet between Archie's legs with an unapologetic grin. A sharp intake of breath could be heard from the redhead, but still he didn't stir.
A slit of flaxen light made his hair glisten in the light of the descending sun. His eyelids lay closed, lips curling upwards at the sides. His fair skin was littered with freckles that could barely be seen, accept for under such a close gaze. His chest moved rhythmically with ling easy breathes, his shoulders framed by the baggy sweater that hung loosely on his muscular body.
Jughead's gaze fell to Archie's face once more, continuing to take in his untouched beauty. Jughead moved his face closer, until their lips were nearly touching. He fixed his eyes on them, rough yet smooth, they enticed him to move closer, to feel their warmth against him. Archie reached out his arm, bring Jughead out of his trance. His strong arm encompassed Jughead's waist pulling him into his chest. Jughead, feeling surprised yet comforted, nudged his face into the crook of Archie's neck, drifting of into a world of his own.
