I look down at my feet while seated on a couch.

"Zac, was that...your girlfriend?" I asked with few hesitation.

"Yeah she was...but I knew our relationship wasn't going anywhere," he replied while not making eye contact.

"You don't have to be sorry for anything, I never really wanted us to really have a future together,"

"Why did you end up with her in the first place?" Making sure I don't say the wrong thing.

"I don't know, it was a dumb idea. Maybe if I was in any relationship I would be a lot happier, but I know now that it wouldn't mean anything if it's the wrong person," he explained softly.

I didn't want to barge into his personal life but I wanted to know.

I comb my short hair with my fingers,

"Did your past relationship make you think that you'd be happier?"

Zac sighed, "yeah, I guess it did," there's a sad look in his eyes.

He finally looks up at me, I could tell he wants me to say something back but, what experience in long term relationships do I have?

I move closer so that there was no space between us.

I don't know what to say...people have always said I was good at giving advice, why can't I say anything?

I look down at our hands. I put my hand on his and lightly squeezed it.

I felt immediately stupid after.

I could tell he was slightly shocked, we didn't say anything for some time. I look at him again and realize he was already looking at me.

He leans closer to me and I let go of his hand and place it on his shoulder as Zac put his on the side of my neck.

Our lips touch and it feels as if it needed to happen, I can tell we've been secretly waiting for this day for 5 years.

Why have I been so blind to let 5 years go by and plenty of boyfriends come and go?
