It is the 9th of Muharram. The day when Umr Ibn Saad decided to fight with Imam Hussain(as). However, Imam Hussain(as) asked for one night's time for prayers. This night is called Shab e Ashoor.
Today, we remember Ali Asghar(as), the youngest son of Hussain Ibn Ali who was barely seven months old when he got martyred.MARTYRED? SEVEN MONTHS?
Yeah, Let's begin the story.
Umme Rabab(mother of Ali Asghar) was worried for her son as she feared he could die of starvation. After all, his thirst was unquenched from 3 days! From where could she get few drops of water?
Hussain Ibn Ali upon seeing the condition of his wife, asked her to give Ali Asghar to him. He said, "I shall take him in my arms and appeal to the Yezid's army to give him a FEW DROPS of water to save his innocent life."
And this's how the youngest Mujahid(little soldier) entered the battlefield-Covered in his Baba's robe, Ali Asghar was protected from the scorching sunlight on the day of Ashoor.
Imam Hussain(as) stopped at a distance. The Yezid's army mistaken the baby covered in the robe as Quran, thinking that Hussain would win with it's help.
And the most heartbreaking scene of Karbala begins...
Hussain Ibn Ali held Ali Asghar in his hand and in a loud voice said, "My young son, Asghar has not commited any sin as he's an infant. He's dying of thirst, in the name of ISLAM, I appeal you to give some water to my innocent son to save his life."Ah! These words of Syed us Shohda had a magical effect on the heartless Yezid's army, some even started to cry yet no one came forward. What did Hussain do now?
A father whose back has been broken, who lost his Hashimite Prince-Akbar just a few moments ago.. Placed his youngest son, Asghar on the burning sand of KARBALA.And said, "Maybe you think that I'll drink water too, Take my son and give him water by yourself."
IMAM'S REQUEST FOR WATER WAS NOT BECAUSE HE EXPECTED TO SURVIVE, BUT BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SHOW THE CRUELTY OF YAZIDIS TO THE WORLD TILL THIS DAY.
And Little Asghar stuck his dry tongue out and moved it over his dry lips.
Alas! This was enough to awaken the consience of Yazidis... But wait!
Umr Ibn Saad made up his mind. He called Hurmula(LA) and commanded him to shoot an arrow towards Ali Asghar.Allahu Akbar! A small arrow for a little child? No, an arrow not with one or two heads, but with three sharp heads!
Even ANIMALS are given water before they are slaughtered, and Ali Asghar?Hurmula aimed the arrow exactly at Asghar's neck. The blood gushed out and he died instantly in his father's arms.
My fellow Hussaini, put your hand on your heart and imagine the scene-A weeping father removing an arrow from his child's neck.
Umme Rabab was already waiting for Asghar but what did she saw?
Hussain's face covered with blood. Blood of their son, Ali Asghar. With great strength.. Hussain Ibn Ali dug a small grave with his Zulfikhar(sword) and buried him in the land of Karbala. Now, Hussain's condition was such that no one could identify him. He faced many hardships in a single day which turned his hair grey. But this is not the END.
He was ready to enter the battlefield. Who helped him mount the horse? Why did Zuljinah(horse) did'nt move? How did he fight? With 1700 wounds?
