What Really Happened

I could hear people talking urgently around me. Pero hindi ko maintindihan ang mga sinasabi nila. Ano ba kasi ang nangyayari?

"We're losing her doc"

"No pulse"

"Okay start chest compressions"

"Oxygen levels and blood pressure dropping"

"Still no pulse"

"Get the defibrillator. Push 1 milligram Epinephrine stat"

"Defibrillator charging. Clear"

"Nurse what's the status?"

"Still no pulse doc"

"Push another milligram of Epinephrine please"

"Defibrillator charging again. Clear"

"Come on! Stay with us!"

Where the hell am I? What just happened?

Ano tong sinasabi nila?

My head was hurting so bad.

And then I remembered...

Oh my god! Am I dying? Are they trying to revive me?

But I can't die. At least not yet. I just have to make sure she's okay.

I tried to open my eyes but it's as if they were glued shut.

C'mon brain.

Work.

Focus.

Open.

I mustered all my willpower so I could open my eyes.

Hanggang sa unti unti kong nakita ang liwanag.

And I found myself staring at a white ceiling.

I'm still feeling disoriented. And my vision is a bit blurry.

Patuloy pa rin ang mga boses na naririnig ko kanina.

Huh?

I was expecting to see doctors and nurses around me pero wala.

So saan ba nanggagaling ang mga boses na to?

Nahihilo pa rin ako pero sinubukan kong itaas ang ulo ko. Napalingon ako sa tabi bago ako pinigilan ng isang nurse.

"Ma'am hindi pa po kayo pwedeng tumayo. Nasa emergency room na po kayo. Ligtas na po kayo"

What did I just see?

Maraming nurses at doctor ang nakapalibot sa kanya but I saw a glimpse of her face.

It doesn't make sense. Pano nangyari yun?

I was right in front of her. I'm sure of that. So how could this have happened?

"Jema?"
