Dear Zombie

Chapter 8

I woke that morning, gunk eyed and tired from the night before, Katy was still hugging her brother, Tess and Harp shared a blanket and Noah was leaning up against a table with his elbows.

"Morning" he whispered

"morning" i say stretching my aching muscles

"What the time?" i ask 

"Around 6 i guess" he said looking out the window.

I jump hearing a thumping on the  door we blocked up last night.

"It's ok they can't get through" Says Noah reassuring me.

Katy turned in her sleep with Sam

"i'm gonna check out that room" says Noah jesting to the closed door on the side of the room, i nod and he steps over giggling the handle and slowly walking in leaving a crack of the door open.

I sat down to relax when Harp woke up twitching and getting used to the light in the room.

"Morning" she says yawning.

I nod my head

"Where's Noah?" she asks

"He went into that room" i say

Harp got up and walked into the room

I sat by myself eating a piece of dried apricot

"Oh my god!" i hear a scream from the other room

"Harp?!" i yell running to the door rattling the handle and sprinting into the room, i turn right to see a hallway, i quickly run down the hall to see a light up ahead, i walk through the doorway but before i can even look the smell of rotting meat stung my eyes and burnt my nose, i imidiently put my arm over my mouth and nose giving a little bit of protection from the stench.

"what the hell is that-" i shuffle over to Harp and Noah. they leaned over a walker, skinny to the bone and handcuffed to a heater,

"who would do that?" i say gagging at the sight

"I don't know but someone who obviously didn't care" Says Noah picking up a bat and hitting it fair in the head killing it with one blow. We here a gasp behind us i turn to see Katy standing there in horror from the sight, i move  forward towards her taking her back to the room.

"y-you killed that man" Katy shivered with her brother still in her hands

"he was dead, i promise" i lied

"let me take your brother, go get some food from my bag over there' i nod taking Sam from her hands.

Katy walked over and took a apple and a baby formula out of the bag, she passed the formula to me and crunched into the apple

i opened the bottle and let Sam sip from the bottle.

"guys" says Noah startling us from behind making Tess wake up

"i found a passage into the back alley we can go through there and keep moving more into the inner city" I had to be honest, i wasn't going to argue with that idea.

we all grabbed our packs and set off into the alley way

Tess was awfully quiet making me feel odd

I put my hand on her shoulder making her turn and smile making me muck more relieved.

as we got out into the alley way i knew soon enough that it was a great time to turn back
