My mother looks at us as we walk into our house. My mother, Katniss Everdeen, is a Hunger Games victor. So is my father, actually, Peeta Mellark. I have my mother's dark hair and my father's light blue eyes - that's probably why I'm a heartthrob. No, I'm not scared to admit it. I'm the sixth graders' heartthrob. No joke.
"Goodness! Faith!" My mother wraps me in a hug. She's changed over the years.. She's become more loving and caring... Not like the Katniss my father knew. Nope. This is his dream Katniss. "Why didn't you come home earlier?"
"Mom, I was hunting." I show her the meat I caught and the vegetables I found. In my hand, I hold a squirrel, rabbit, turkey and various amounts and types of vegetables and edible plants.
My father takes them from my hand and examines them. "My, Katniss. She's brought an outstanding amount of katniss home with her. Our favorite." He smiles.
Katniss smiles at Gale, a silent thank you, and Gale walks off after giving a half-hearted smile. Is he still miffed that Katniss had children and he wasn't the father? Oh, well.
My brother, Peter, walks out of his room, frowning as usual. Yeah... I got my father's smiles and he got our mother's frowns.
Peter asks, "Sis, you gonna get ready for the Reaping?"
There's some kind of awkwardness between me and my brother. We had a fight one day because he almost volunteered to go to the Hunger Games last year and I yelled at him for it. I kinda feel bad for it now. "Yeah." I smile drily.
"I set your clothes out on the bed. Take a shower first, Faith." My mother says.
I smile again and walk into the room, after getting a playful punch on the shoulder. He's two years younger than me, but he's taller and stronger than me. He used to give me light punches like that all the time. It's his way of saying 'Hey, let's just be friends again'. I like that about my brother.
I take a shower and find a beautiful light purple dress lying on the bed. I sling it on. It must be one of the dresses she got from the Capitol, because the feeling of the material is softer than cotton, and it's as light as a feather. I walk out, and my mother smiles at me, wrapping me in a hug.
"You're as beautiful as your mother was," Father says, "maybe more so." That gets him an elbow in the stomach, "I love you, though, Katniss." He forces a smile as he sinks back into his chair.
Me and Peter laugh, as our parents rush us out of the door to go to the Reaping.
