I am sat across for Luke at the breakfast bar. His head is in his hands and his eyes are closed. I am sat on a stool with my head propped up with my hands, just staring at the wall behind Luke. We have been sat like this for a few minutes.
After Luke had gone down the stairs I followed him to the kitchen where he was already sitting in the same position he is in now. I just came and sat opposite him as I wanted to give him some time to calm down. I can hear him breathing and it isn't calming. His breaths aren't even as some come out as soft grunts or sighs and some breaths are inhaled quickly and some are deep.
Luke looks up at me and looks right into my eyes; he stares for a bit before sighing and getting up as if the thoughts have just disappeared. He goes towards the cupboards at the back of the kitchen and starts opening and closing them roughly and at random. He stops and turns his head to face me, whilst he is hanging on the doors.
"What do you want to eat?" He asks me with a small, very small, smile. I smile back and think for a few seconds.
"Spaghetti!" I shout back at him with enthusiasm. He just smiles, a bigger smile this time, and turns around and starts getting out all of the ingredients he needed to make us dinners. I watch him as he opens the packet and put the pan on the hob to boil the water.
"What do you want with it?" He continues to face forward with his back to me, I do t really mind the view.
"Err, sausages?" I say more as a question. I hear him let out a small chuckle as he nods slightly and walks to the fridge and gets out sausages. I continue to sit at the breakfast bar and watch him whilst he cooks.
"Do you want to talk about what happened up there?" I ask after a while. He slowly walks over to me and sits next to me; he turns to face me so I turn to him. He gives me a small nod and opens his mouth to speak.
“I just got pissed off,” he sighed and turned back to rest his hands on the counter. “Zach had no right to say that about you.” He looked down at the counter and then ran his hand through his hair. I smiled a tiny bit at his response and placed my hand on his. He turned his head to look at me.
“Thank you, for standing up for me. I was a little harsh to him but I was pissed off at Alice.” I let out a small laugh and looked at Luke and he had a small frown on his face.
“No, don’t defend him; you had the right to say that as he is a bully to you. He shouldn’t be but he is, you are pretty much my only friend here and I care about you.” He smiled at the end of his small rant and got up to walk over to the cooker. “Now, I think the food is done.” He started to get out plates and dish up the dinner. I walked over and took a plate from the side.
“Why thank you kind sir for preparing this fine dish.” I curtsied in front of hem and he laughed but bowed down and went along with it.
“You are very welcome, m’lady.” He grabbed his dinner from the side and I followed him into another room. I would have called it the front room as that is normally the main room for entertainment but it was at the back of the house, so it was the back room; confusing. He walked straight to the couch and sat crossed legged but he legs hung over the edge as they were so long. I walked over and sat on the other side and sat with my legs crossed as well facing Luke. He realised I was facing him and turned around with a big grin on his face. I started to eat the food and just watched him do the same. It wasn’t awkward; we would occasionally make funny faces at each other and start laughing for a bit, and then go back to our food. We just sat there and it was nice, well it was until Zach can into the room and groaned.
“Why the fuck is she still in my house?!” he shouted and then stormed into the kitchen. We had both watched him leave so when we turned back to each other, Luke looked pissed gain but I was trying to contain my laughter. I couldn’t help it so I burst out laughing and Luke looked more confused than pissed now.
