"So, where are you from?" asked Ellek, and although she knew it was a harmless question, April looked down and didn't talk for the next few minutes. Ellek was smart enough to stop and let her be for those few moments.
"I'm not from..... Can I really trust you?" April needed to be sure. It was bad enough going to the 'Forbidden Planet'. Telling their kind about the many other places they knew jack about wasn't smart.
"You can trust me with anything. There is no one for me to tell anyway. I was abandoned. Left behind. No one has even glanced at me for so long I don't even remember."
April looked up at him dead in the eyes. It wasn't meant to seem intimidating, and even though he was almost a head taller than her, he was still intimidated.
"Ok. I'm not from this planet..." and she told Ellek everything. From her being found in front of the orphanage to now. Ellek sat and listened attentively. No interruptions, just listening. April appreciated that, and every time after that when they met, she would tell him how thankful she was. It took him a while, but Ellek finally opened up and told her about his life, and how it went. Really, they were pretty similar, and this is what brought them together. For so long, they got away with it, April sneaking into the forest to get to the invisiwall and Ellek waiting at the same spot they met the first time to see April again.
They became the absolute best of friends, and they got through thick and thin together. Every now and then they would even bring each other food since both never had enough to be satisfied. If one was having a rough day, the other knew exactly how to lift their spirits. This kept up for the next couple of years, which were the best years of April's life. But for Ellek, it was a different story.
So different, that April didn't realise until too late.
Too late for the both of them, even though really it was Ellek.
*Ok, sorry guys. Homework, assignments, SLEEP, definitely sleep, and the like have slowed down the posts of these chapters.
