April was happy about the fact that Ellek really liked her birthday present. When she had said that he could go when he was a little older, she really meant when you forget, just so she could make it a surprise. Sure, a bit mean, but she thought it was a good idea.

April was telling the truth though, well, kind of. More of a white lie. Ellek did need to be a bit older, but that was it - just a bit. As a matter of fact, only two weeks older, as April had calculated. When she found out that he'd forgotten, she waited until his next birthday to announce it. She had taken that time to get a place ready for him in her orphanage.

But recently, Ellek had been acting weirdly, and she had no idea why. One day, he was perfectly fine, full of the excitement of going to her planet, as which she had obviously expected, to quiet, smiling, but not like before. He kept to himself as much as possible, and kept on apologising for everything - even if it wasn't needed to be apologised for. April didn't understand what could have possibly made him like that.

She came to the conclusion of him wearing himself out from all the excitement, that he decided to stop and just wait for it to come, but she wasn't very keen on that being true. April was tempted to ask Ellek about what was going on, but he never gave her the chance. He would walk away, or say, "I need to pack, sorry."

It really annoyed April, but she needed to be calm. Being calm was her forte, and she attempted to teach Ellek to also calm down. Ellek just couldn't. He was too far down the road to be able to turn around and reverse all wrong. But recently his usual rants about how everyone but April hated him, have gone.

'Maybe he has finally understood. Maybe he will be kinder to his city and the people in it. At least I hope so,' April thought.

She had no idea where the Ellek she once knew went. He'd either grown up, or something happened. Nothing could have possibly happened though, Ellek would have told her. He wasn't the kind that would keep secrets from their close friends. He would lean on April's shoulder, and April would lean on his every now and then.

This is what made them such good friends.
