"I'm so sorry." I say."It's okay, but you shouldn't be saying sorry to me, do you think Gilbert heard?" Anne asks.
I continue walking. We finally arrive at Green Gables after fifteen minuets of walking in silence. "Well, you haven't met Marilla or Mathhew yet." Anne informs. "Well, how about I go inside with you?" I ask. Anne nods her head, slowly. I follow her. She opens the door and I walk inside, the dining room is very abstract and very attractive of course. "Oh, who must you be?" An old but kind lady asks me. I can tell that in her earlier eyes, she was beautiful, just like Anne.
"Oh, I am Alana," I replied. "I'm new to Avonlea."
"How have you liked it so far?" She asks.
I take a quick peek at Anne, we both start grinning, our grins turn into laughter. We both run upstairs and into her room.
"Why haven't you told?" Anne asks, still smiling. "Well you see, it is sinful to lie to elders!" I scorn playfully. "Well, yes I suppose so." Anne says. "About Gilbert.." I say. "Is he your significant other?" I ask curiously. "Ew! No, he most definitely isn't. I won't and never will EVER see him like that." Anne mourns. "Well, Gilbert sure doesn't feel the same way." I murmur.
"Anne! It's dinner time!" Marilla calls out from downstairs. "Already?" I ask. Anne grabs my hand and we rush out and go to the kitchen. "I've baked pies, oh, Alana, would you like to join?" Marilla asks. "I certainly can not, my mother is waiting for me." I say quietly. Anne nudges me, "Why I've got to go now." I say.
I walk out of the kitchen, knowing that Anne and Marilla are following me. "Thank you." I say and flash a quick smile. "Oh but you must! Please, please, please, come and eat dinner with us! It will be quite splendid." Anne remarks. "Oh, but I can't." I say. With that I open the doors and walk out. The nightly breeze hits me like bricks. I breathe in the beautiful wind.
I keep on walking, I must find Gilbert, I just have to. I do not know where he lives. But surely he lives close? I do know where Ruby lives. She doesn't really live that far. As I was walking to Ruby's, a tall, colored man walks bye. Hasn't Anne been talking about a man named, Sebastian who lives with Gilbert? I clear my throat,
"Hello." I say, looking at the tall man. "Hi, there." The man says, he has a very heavy accent. "Do you know where-,"
"Gilbert lives?" He says.
"Well, yes." I say. "I do not like him at all!" I say.
"Okay.. I wasn't going to ask you that." He says. Great, I've made the situation awkward. "I just need to deliver a message." I say. "He lives there." He points to a house far away.
"Thank you, I really appreciate it." I say while walking to the direction of his house.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Hello, Gilbert." I say.
"Hi, Alana." He replies. We just stand there staring each other.
I get on my knees and hold my hands together, "I'm so very sorry!" I yelp. "I never meant to!"
Gilbert looks very confused, he just looks at me frowning. "I don't get it, what did you do." He asks.
"Your father is dead, I've made a very cruel remark, I never knew." I say, still on my knees and looking up at him.
He starts to laugh, I get up. "I don't understand." I say, why is he laughing.
"My father is in a better place, you're new here too." He says. "I guess now I have two haters." He says.
"Anne, hates you?" I ask. I mean surely she didn't hate him that much, right? "Well, she did." He said. "She smacked me with her slate."
"Oh."
"I called her carrots."
"That was rude." I replied.
"I was only trying to talk to her."
You didn't talk to me.
"I guess I must go." I say.
"Oh, right." He says.
"You mustn't tell anybody about this." I say bitterly.
I walk back to Green Gables. Why is he so stuck on Anne? There are plenty of girls that like him, Anne doesn't. Oh how a beautiful romance they share, can't I have some too?
