You woke up to find Mat still sleeping next to you, and you were instantly in a great mood.

Today was one of the extremely rare days when your schedules were in sync. Both you and Mat had very busy schedules (hockey practice and games for him and a commute into the city to attend college for you), so you cherished the days when you could sleep in and not rush to go somewhere. Other couples were more adventurous, but for the two of you, it was the simple pleasures in life that mattered most.

You turned over to make sure Mat was still sleeping, but instead, you found his beautiful hazel eyes staring back at you.

"Good morning, sweetheart," he said, a lazy grin gracing his features.

"Morning, babe," you replied, and he kissed you.

After you pulled away, Mat said, "So what do you want to do today? We can go into the city if you want."

"Nah, I'd rather not take the LIRR today," you replied.

"Totally get it. Maybe we can go for a drive later?"

"Yeah, that sounds nice." You and Mat liked to drive around with no particular destination in mind until you decided on a whim.

"I'm going to start breakfast," Mat said as he maneuvered his way out of bed, "See you in a minute?"

"Yep."

You watched Mat pad out of the bedroom before you stretched your arms and got out of bed. You brushed your teeth and washed your face in the bathroom before joining Mat outside. When you walked into the living room, you could see Mat making pancakes in the kitchen. Mat wasn't a great cook, but you were terrible, so he always ended up cooking. He didn't mind, though: he was whistling as he flipped a pancake over.

"Hey, babe," you said while wrapping your arms around him from behind.

"Hey," he replied.

"I'm going to make some tea, do you want some?" you asked, but you already knew the answer. Mat only liked coffee, but you couldn't stand it: even the smell made you nauseous.

"No, thanks," he said, so you went over to the cabinet to take out your mug and collected a tea bag from the counter. After you filled the mug with water and put it in the microwave, you returned to your original position with your arms wrapped around Mat. He soon broke the comfortable silence that had settled over the room.

"Babe," he wheedled while making puppy dog eyes.

"Yes?" You knew what was coming.

"Will you please make me coffee?"

You sighed. "What do I get if I do?"

"My undying love and gratitude," Mat turned his head to kiss you on the cheek.

"Oh, alright, fine," you grumbled, but in reality, you were happy to do it today. Having him home was such a treat that if it meant enduring the unbearable smell of coffee, you would do it.

"Thanks, babe," Mat said, this time leaning over to kiss you on the lips.
