(Jack's POV)

Returning to Auradon was never a part of the plan, but seeing Fairy Godmother pointing her wretched stick at Dad squashes down any regrets I can think of. Almost on autopilot, I shove myself forward and throw out my staff. In seconds, Fairy Godmother's wand falls to the ground, trapped in a thick layer of ice. I can feel my breath coming in harsh pants, ripping through my chest and stinging at my lungs. But then my name's being called, and my dad's looking up at me with so much pride and love - and the situation fades into the background.

"Dad!" I call out, rushing into his arms. There, with my hands clutching into his robe, I finally feel at home.

I fly up to him and give him a hug.

"Jack!" Ben's voice breaks through our short barrier of shadows, and I glance over my shoulder at him. His eyes are wide; flashing between me, my father, and Hades with horror and disappointment. "You really want to do this?"

I don't bother responding to him, removing myself from my dad's embrace to stand in front of him. Hades begins to chuckle as I raise my staff, keeping our position guarded.

"Same speech you fed my baby girl won't work on Pitch's kid," Hades comments, smirking at his audience.

Ben's hurt turns to confusion, and it's obvious in the way he glances between Mal and Evie. When Mal's eyes tear up, a slow realization dawns through everyone.

"Dad..." Mal almost whimpers, glancing around her.

Before the new information can saddle between the couple, Queen Leah steps forward; "I told you so!"

Her scream makes me flinch, but I still step forward when she does. I jerk my staff around, chuckling as the spray of ice forces her and her family back. When the movement is accompanied by a terrorized scream, I can't help but laugh again. Being able to give them just an inch of that fear that crawls on the island is almost justifyingly refreshing.
