working alongside doctor crusher gave you special privileges to be, sometimes, on the bridge. such as now when the captain had asked for an explanation to how majority of his crew had contracted a disease. "without further tests, i can't be sure." beverly explains to an irate captain. worf, geordi, deanna, tasha, data, and william were of course present and listening to the ordeal. wesley was standing beside you, having immediately stood from his place at the control panel at the front when seeing you enter the bridge with his mother. "captain, may i--?" wesley starts. "you cannot." picard interjects. if geordi had not spoken up then the glare beverly sent the captain's way would have definitely changed his mind. "actually, sir," geordi starts, "wesley and i might have found the cause down in engineering." this gave the captain a sigh of pardon and he gestured for wesley to explain himself. "everyone from engineering contracted the disease first, sir." wesley explains, "with geordi's help, we identified infectious radiation residue which could be spread as a contagion." "and how do you understand the process of this disease?" the captain inquires. "(y/n) told me." "why was (y/n) down in engineering?" "because she's my girlfriend." wesley explains as matter-of-factly then continues, "so you see, there must be an infection originating from however this substance came aboard which has transmitted from person to person." no one could voice a reply or acknowledge the explanation wesley had just given; all too caught up in the information they had just abruptly learnt. it seemed that wesley was oblivious to what he had said, making you wonder if he at all remembers the conversation you two had about keeping your relationship a secret. "i suppose we should have known." tasha smirks, hands crossed at her chest. the once shocked expression of william riker turned into a smug look directed at both you and wesley. picard, with raised eyebrows, turns to his first commander as he lets wesley continue to ramble on. it might take a moment or later that day that wesley figures out what he accidentally exposed, but rest assure he realizes.
