When he realized no one was going to ask any more questions, Mr. Blackbourne spoke again, "I previously mentioned an exercise, we have decided on three separate activities that will induce friendly competition between our pack and the newcomers, the first one being a friendly game of basketball," He said.
"Let me guess... no girls allowed?" I asked with a fake cheery tone not realizing how loud I was.
"Please refrain from interrupting me in the future Miss..." he paused but I refused to respond "but you are correct, females will be exempt from this game." He responds with sass, causing females in his pack to be excited that they don't have to play and me to laugh at the dumb gender roles they seem to have in place around here.
"Kick-ass please," I whisper to Drew and Drake knowing that basketball is their favorite and they both smirk at me.
"Now we need 12 people on each team everyone else may watch and cheer on your side," One of the other alphas said, taking over for Mr. Blackbourne. He had red hair and a muscular build, "I'll be the caption for the pack team and I need someone to be the captain for the rogue team." He said. Guess what? This one is my mate too. How exciting! Not.
Wil raised his hand to be the rogue captain and he stood up. The redhead alpha glared at him but continued his speech or whatever, "Okay both of us can pick 11 teammates."
The redhead alpha ended up picking the other six highschool aged alphas (shocker), and a few random pack members. Wil ended up picking out Drew, Drake, Danny, Mickey (Wil's brother and Danny's mate), and a few other rogues including an acquaintance of ours, Tony. He didn't have much to choose from though and ended up having to threaten my brother into playing, which made me laugh.
Ultimately, I got bored the first five seconds after they picked their teams and laid down where the boys used to be crossing my ankles. While one team was in the locker room section and the other was in the hallway discussing plans and such, the older seven alphas and some other pack members were dismantling the stage.
I put my bag under my head and closed my eyes, bored out of my mind... I want to play, albeit just to kick their asses cause basketball is boring as fuck, but still, I can't and it's dumb I thought.
Before I could fall asleep though, one of the older alphas cleared their throat right beside me.
"Yes?" I said annoyed.
"There's nowhere else to sit," the blonde one with the curly hair said politely yet, excitedly? Do I even need to say it at this point, they're my mates we get it.
I huffed and sat up putting my bag in my lap, to make room for the assholes, even though I checked and there was PLENTY room with their pack, I ended up squished between the giant scary one, who I noticed had a Russian accent, and the blonde one, while the others sat around us, too close for comfort.
Needless to say, I was miserable. Mr. Blackbourne announced to everyone that they would give both teams five more minutes to discuss plans before starting the game.
After that announcement, Mr. Blackbourne stood by the door on his phone, being the only one of my lovely mates in the room who opted out of sitting near me.
"Hi, I'm Sean!" The blonde alpha said excitedly.
"Good for you," I respond bored.
I opened my bag and rummaged through it until I found the book that I doodle down choreography ideas in, once I got it out I grabbed a pencil and started doodling stick people in the poses I wanted them.
"What's that?" Sean asked, seemingly not bothered by the fact that I clearly don't want to talk to him.
"A book," I replied.
"What are you writing in your book?" He asks another question and I got annoyed.
"511 ways to kill a person with a pencil," I say gripping my pencil.
"Why 511?" Sean asks at the same time the Russian guy says "Don't forget stabbing the eye."
I'm shocked and annoyed by both answers, so I just ignore them and continue to work on my choreo.
After being left alone for a few minutes, the teams come back in. Wil comes over to grab his water bottle from his bag, getting glared at by the alphas.
"Luck," I say simply not really giving a flying fuck about who wins the game, "right back at you," he responds making me fake glare at him and flip him off as he walks away.
The game soon starts and I get sucked into watching it mostly because I want to make sure nothing bad happens people get competitive as hell and I really have no earthly idea how they decided a competition between two groups that hate each other would be a good idea. Shoulda made them play together that would have been funny. I'm so focused on making sure nothing bad happens that I don't notice Sean taking my book.
I see a short conversation between Drake and one of the bigger teenaged alphas, who is wearing all black and seems to constantly have a scowl etched on his face, I ignore it not bothering to listen in when suddenly the Alpha punches Drake straight in the face, causing him to fall.
I laugh at this, I love Drake like a brother, but he is a competitive asshole and a hot-head, he probably deserved it.
My laugh causes the both of them to look at me, ignoring the alpha, I look at Drake who is galreing daggers in my direction causing me to laugh more and grin at him. Shaking his head Drake stands up and without warning, lunges at the Alpha.
Oh shit...
Rolling my eyes at the pair I turn to see if any of other dumbasses... I mean Alphas were going to do anything. Most of them are just watching looking annoyed, like this happened often; Mr. Blackbourne is raising an eyebrow at me for some godforsaken reason, the Alphas on the basketball court are just looking passive or glaring at Drake, and Sean is... reading my book? Quickly, I snatch it out of his hand and put it back into my bag, I'm not too worried about Drake because he has Alpha blood in him and I know he can handle himself plus trying to stop it before the idiots let out a bit of their frustration would likely cause well... a riot of sorts.
I shake my leg as a way to rid myself of some of the pent up energy from not stepping in as I continue to watch the fight. The Russian Alpha to my right apparently notices this cause he puts his hand on my thigh to presumably get me to stop. This takes me by surprise and I squeal, jumping a little, and pushing his hand away from me. He frowns but looks back towards the fight.
Apparently my attention was on the Russian too long because Drake is now losing the fight and looks like complete shit, where the Alpha only looks like three-fourths shit.
I look at the rest of my friends to see them looking at me to figure out what to do. Finally after Drake finally gets a particularly hard punch to the face, I mouth 'stop it' to them, and they pull the pair apart.
I lean forward and look at Mr. Blackbourne who still seems to be looking at me, "So hows this mutual respect thing working out for you?"
In return he gives me a slight glare and walks toward the middle of the court, "While I speak with these two, Alpha Toma will explain the next activity." He then walks out the door followed by Drake and the other Alpha like its the most simple thing in the world. I look at the rest of my friends exasperated while some random pack members clean up the blood decorating the floor.
