I stop dead in my tracks, noticing Jasmine and a few other girls from my cabin, as well as a few I don't recognize who have decided to join in on the fun of torturing me. I don't know how much more of this I can take. We've only been here two days now and its already bad! I can only imagine what it'll progress to over the summer.

"It's the little slut who sneaks off at night to go—" I feel the tears brim in my eyes, and I don't let them say anymore before I'm running out of the room, tears now freely falling down my face.

Luckily, the doors are all closed as I run passed them, so no one see's me break down. The second I turn the corner, however, is a different story.

I feel myself collide with another body, sending me flying backwards onto the floor. My breathing picks up more as I cover my face, not wanting to see who it is. Obviously, the other person doesn't catch that drift.

I feel them kneel beside me, and when they speak it surprises me at who they are.

"Kya, I am so sorry!" Tyler apologizes. "Are you hurt?" He quickly adds.

I shake my head. "No."

"But you're crying," he points out. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I'm okay." I sniff, wiping my tears with the ends of my sleeves. I gather up enough courage to look up at him, seeing we're alone in the hallway.

"What group are you in? Does your leader know you're out here?" He worries as he helps me stand up.

"Group Z, and our leader hadn't shown up yet, so no."

"Well, that's my bad. Im your leader." He tells me as we start walking down the hall I just ran from. I honestly don't wanna go back, but I kinda have no choice now.

We walk in silence, nothing but the sound of groups in their respective rooms cheering.

"Are you sure you're okay?" He asks me one last time as we pause outside the door. I contemplate telling him the truth, but instead nod. He leads the way inside, all eyes turning to us. "Good morning campers!" He greets. "Sorry I'm late, I got a little caught up in the kitchen." Half of the group laughs at his statement, while the other half is Jasmine and her friends, and they're all glaring at me.

"Had to go get the leader now, did we?" She whispers to me, the rest of her group laughing.

"The little slut had to run off and be a baby about it all." One of the girls I don't recognize smirks, sending the group into a fit of giggles.

"Is there something you'd like to share with everyone?" Tyler suddenly calls them out, raising an eyebrow. As soon as she has Tylers attention her entire demeanor changes. She goes to suductive all of a sudden, pulling her shirt lower to reveal her chest and drawing out her words.

What she doesn't see is the look of disgust that momentarily crosses Tylers face, before he pretends not to notice.

"Not at all," she purrs.

"Then how about you stay quiet and listen to the instructions, please." Tyler snaps, turning back to the group. The stunned look on Jasmine and her friends faces is enough to make a smile spread across mine.

The rest of the session goes by without a hitch, and before I know it, it's time for lunch. I quickly make my way through the line and find a seat once again with Danny and his cabin.

"Hey, Kya!" Miles greets as I sit down.

"Hey," I smile. The others all wave before returning to their food.

"Are you okay?" Danny whispers when everyone diverts their attention.

"I'm fine." I lie. "Why?"

"It looks like you've been crying." He shrugs, luckily believing the lie.

"The pollen outside must just be making my eyes puffy." I shrug, trying to play it all off.

"You've never had issues with pollen..." he looks confused.

"Must just be different up here than it is back home." Someone please change the subject. I think to myself.

"Hey guys!" Tyler smiles, coming to join us. Perfect timing.

"Hey, Ty" the boys chorus back.

"Hi," I squeak out, keeping my head down. I feel his gaze linger on me for a few seconds too long, but I keep my eyes on my food.

Soon enough, lunch is over, and we're all filing back out for our afternoon sessions. This is the session where we're paired up with dancers, and I couldn't be more excited.

I'm quickly told that I'm in group "T" so I head back down the familiar hallways, hoping that my group will be better than this mornings.

"Greetings fellow camper!" A tall African American boy greets as I walk in the room. He wears colorful cargo shorts and a pristine white tank top.

"Hello!" I laugh, returning the greeting.

"I'm Quinn, nice to meet you." He shakes my hand.

"I'm Kya, nice to meet you as well." We chat for a little bit while we wait for the session to start. He's a dancer, ballet, and is from Florida. This is his first time at the camp too. He's 15, and other than ballet he plays football as well. I honestly don't know how he can juggle football and dance, but somehow he does it.

"Good afternoon campers!" Our leader marches in. Turns out, my leader for the afternoon sessions is Debby. I wonder if my parents had something to do with both of my session counselors being people I know/ am close to. "How was everyone's morning sessions?" She asks.

The whole group murmurs replies, as she stands in the front of the room. There are rows of benches facing towards her, so that's where we sit. I sit with Quinn, as he's the only one I even partially know.

"Well, it's only the first day, it'll get more interesting as the camp progresses." She smiles. "Now, as you all know this is the mixed session with both musicians and dancers. We'll get into the more crucial stuff later, but today I want you to partner up with a musician if you're a dancer and vice versa. The musician in your group is going to come up with an arrangement and the dancer is going to choreograph a dance to their song. Any questions?" We all shake our heads. "Okay, so you can go anywhere in the camp as long as you're not disturbing other groups or breaking camp rules. Musicians are encouraged to dance as well if you're comfortable! Meet back here around 4pm." She tells us.

As soon as she finishes talking people start pairing up and walking out of the room. Almost immediately, Quinn turns to me.

"Would you be my partner?" He asks.

"Of course." I smile. "I need to grab a few things from my cabin in order to make an arrangement. I think I have the perfect composition that we could use." I tell him as we head out of the building.

"Sounds good." He blinks the sun out of his eyes as we step outside.

"Lets get going!"
