Chapter I

LIFE OF THE STUDENT

It’s still 4:30 in the morning, the sky was still dark, the breeze is cold and the surroundings are as peaceful as ever but Marj is already up. She was so excited since it’s their first day of school. She stretches up her body, fixed her bed then took a bath. After bath, she wore her uniform, comb her hair and looks at herself at the mirror to see if her look is already good. She then took her breakfast which is bread, hotdog, egg and milk, and then she was set for the first day of school.

It was already 6:00 in the morning, the sky was now blue and the present of the sun is already felt. All the students were asked to stay at the flagpole which can accommodate about a thousand of students; there were trees at the side, a stage and the flag at the center. The flag was already old but was still at good condition. The students were talking like they’ve never talked before while waiting for the speaker to arrive. Some were talking about their experience during summer “MY family and I went to Baguio, it was so fun!” said by one of the students. Some also busy boasting their new stuffs “DID you know I bought my bag in the U.S.” one of the girls said and some were just so busy looking for their crush and some were just busy saying “I MISS YOU GUYS” but it suddenly became silent, the lines were now straight and the students were all ready to listen attentively when the voice of the speaker echoed from the stage “WELCOME STUDENTS” he started for a speech. All were like listening attentively but was so bored. One of the students was yawning, other is looking at one place to another and one is always looking at her clock. But when the speaker spoke about the “Inter – School’s Activities” that would take 2 months from that day, everybody’s boredom turned to excitement! Then the speaker ended his speech and the flagpole was filled with noisy students again. But then they have to stop their chit – chatting when the school bell rang “IT’S CLASS TIME” and that the students already need to go their respective classes.

In the classroom, which has 45 maximum students, new painted chairs, the wall painted blue and the curtain colored pink, classes has just started. For the freshmen the first day was kind of different but easy, they are only given task like introduce their selves and pass a paper with their names on it. For the sophomores it’s quite usual but exciting they were only given task like those of the freshmen’s but they were excited for they know what to expect. The juniors also felt excited but on the contrary they felt very ordinary, for they are now familiar with their classmates, teachers and even lessons. For the seniors, their first day was like worst; “Lessons Assignments and Notes” were already given. No introducing of names and passing of papers. They felt like this would be the worst year for their high school and that it would be very boring. But for the four girls in one of the section – Marj, Heart, Gella, and Trix this year would be exciting.

They were some kind of popularities in school; they are known to be active in the school. Marj is an active member of the Theatre Arts Club; she’s the happy – go – lucky girl in the group. She doesn’t spend her time thinking about her problems instead she spend it chit – chatting with her friends and makes every moment a memorable one. She’s a thin girl with a long black hair and a white skin. She likes the color pink more than any color; her things are all in pink starting from the bag to the handkerchief. She’s sometimes noisy and sometimes quiet; she loves to write story and poems that’s why she chose to be at the Theatre Art Club and be the Theatre Arts scriptwriter and sometimes leads.

Heart then is the school Valedictorian and the science club president. She’s the “SMART GIRL” in the group, obviously. She likes to study but finds it more fun with her friends. She’s also thin like Marj but has a longer black hair and also has a white skin. She also finds pink cute but is not so particular about colors. Her favorite subject was always Science – Related Subjects.

Gella is the “CRAZY ONE” sometimes she laughs with no reasons and sometimes her giggles are like viruses that can be passed on to another. She’s not thin and not fat; she got a wavy – hair which she ties with a clip. She’s the cheer leader in the school, at first she wasn’t sure she can do it right but as time passed she gained her self – confidence.

Last but not the least Trix, the most “mabait” in the group. Trix is the SSG Vice President; she approaches people in a nice manner and with a glooming face. Like Marj, Trix also loves pink her things were all in pink. She also got a long black hair. She’s often quiet at the corner but there are also times that her noise is unstoppable.

During vacant periods Marj, Heart, Gella and Trix would always buy their snacks and like chat while eating but during class hours they would listen to the lectures seriously and attentively. And after their class they would likely chat at the school grounds. It’s the perfect place for the students’ to chat because there are trees all around wherein you can look for a shade. You can also sit at the Bermuda grass or if you like at the benches. When they are at the school grounds, they would likely talk about their assignments and lessons “NON – SENSE” things but most of the times they talk about their crushes. They would laugh and giggle and sometimes even shout as if nobody is watching or listening. In the middle of their talk, it has already been Marj’s habit to ask “WHAT TIME WILL WE GO HOME?” usually they would say 5:00 p.m. but then ending up going home at 6:00 p.m. The four of them would sometimes go home together but most of the times they are picked up by their services/parents.

When they’re already at their own houses, it has already been their habit and routine to open their computers, check their e-mails and update their facebook and sometimes the four of them chat/video call through skype. If they feel like doing their assignments or if they’re in their mood to study they would study, but usually they don’t! :)

The first week of the school was all about pre-test, coverage of the grading rules and requirements. The first week turned out great but the following week was a busy one. It was the opening for the “CLUB Registration” there was booth everywhere in where you could sign – there were the Theatre Arts Club Booth, the Science Club booth and etc. There was also a try – out for Basketball in the basketball court and also for the Badminton in the badminton court. There was also a try – out for the Cheering Squad. All were busy lining up to get a registration form and filling them up.

In the Theatre Arts booth, Marj is in charge it was seen on her face that she’s already exhausted, face full of sweat and can hardly breathe, being there all day under the heat of the sun plus the noise of the people made her really tired.

Heart was the one in-charge in the Science Club Booth. She was also tired and exhausted, irritated with the noise of the people, disturbed with the heat of the sun and was really thirsty but her bottle of water was already empty.

Since Gella was the cheer leader, she was also the one in-charge for the cheering squad try-out. Many auditioned but only few are qualified. Some just do stunts without thinking ending up sitting on the floor.

And even if she has no club to handle, Trix was still busy doing her own stuff regarding her political responsibility. She was also busy observing if the things around her is doing right and fine.

It was already 3:00 p.m. but there are still students who are unregistered. When the clock strikes 5:00 p.m. all students’ were already obliged to go and continue the registration tomorrow.

The following day the registration continued but the no. of people was not the same as of that yesterday. The lines became shorter and shorter until the registration was declared “close!”

After that tiring registration, the orientation followed the next day. Each clubs conducted their orientation at their own specific places and offices. Each club leader told their members about the incoming “Inter – Schools’ Competition”.
