Chapter II

INTER SCHOOLS ACTIVITY

For time was so fast the students didn’t notice that it was already a month ago since they entered the gate of Dalton University, to face a new level of life. But then, they were all excited for the “Inter – Schools Activities”. An event where there is a Science Quiz and Math Bowl, there is also a cheering squad competition, badminton and the high light of the event the Basketball Competition – is near and fast approaching. Every students and clubs were so busy practicing, rehearsing and mastering.

The Theatre Arts Club was busy mastering lines and rehearsing acts, for they will present during the said event. Marj’s script is the one use for the presentation; she was also the lead with Ken as her partner. They were like repeating their acts two or more times until they got it perfect.

Heart who was not a member of the Theatre Arts Club needs not to master lines and rehearse acts but needs to review and review and review for she was the schools representative for the Quiz Bowl. Even if it’s some kind of stressing, Heart finds it fun and exciting!

Gella on the other hand, who is the schools cheering squad leader was busy scolding her members who couldn’t pick up her instructions and who couldn’t get their stunts. She was so pressured for the cheering squad competition is happening the next month but still her member couldn’t get it. “WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH YOU?” she exclaimed as she scold her members.

Trix who is also an active school personality, not to mention A SSG Vice President, was also busy doing her school job. They were asked to help organize the said event that would be held at the school. She reviews every detail about the event starting from the time to the sequence of activities.

Because of their each and others involvements in school, they didn’t have much time talk personally but then “if there’s a will there’s a way”, every night when they’re already home at their houses. As usual they would open their laptops then video chat through skype all throughout the night. Days, weeks passed and then the moment of truth come.

“WELCOME TO THE INTER – SCHOOLS’ ACTIVITIES” The speaker said as he welcome the students.

They started their event by cutting of ribbons courteously of the Principal. The school was full of students’ from short to tall, from thin to fat. All were excited and just can’t wait!

The speaker first rendered a speech then the Science Quiz Bowl begins. Almost all of the contestants are school valedictorians and salutatorians. Every body expected a difficult, puzzling, exciting quiz. The questions were difficult, some are about physics, and some are about biology, chemistry and any science related areas. There were problems in which they should show their solutions and computations. As expected it was a close – fight. At the start, there were 30 contestants, then 25, 20 until there were only 2 contestants left. The two contestants were asked to compute the most difficult problem. It took the contestants for about 30 minutes to solve the problem; they were sweating and nervous for the Judge will now announce the result. “Our winner is none other than Ms. Heart Perez from Dalton University” Heart was very happy, she wanted to jump, laugh and shout but needs to look formal for they’re so many people watching as she receives her medal and trophy. Next to the Science Quiz is the Math Quiz. The students of DU were all confident for their representative was Charlie. Charlie is the DU’s salutatorian and is Gella’s best friend; he specializes in Math and was the champion of the DU Math Quiz. Charlie was also confident for he known he could do it and that because he studied hard and review every reference. The problem were at first easy, then average, then the rest difficult. Every contestant was very serious in solving each problem mentally or with calculator, of course. Even though the problem were difficult already it was just like a simple “1+1” for Charlie. The fight between students is closed until there are only two of them left, Charlie and the student from the DLSU. The problem is very easy to solve but difficult to understand that you need to analyze it so much before doing any steps in solving. It took Charlie a time in solving but then managed to answer it and he WON! The students of DU were very happy; they were shouting “DU THE BEST!!”
