Chapter VIII

UNEXPECTED

It has been a month since the “I like you.” scene in the badminton court and since then Katie was still going to school but she tried to avoid the four girls especially Trix and Raffy, and also from then on, Trix and Raffy are always together, Trix watches Raffy’s badminton game, Raffy helps Trix with her works, go to lunch and snack together… but they wouldn’t tell if they’re in a relationship or something. One day, on the school grounds, Marj, Heart, Gella and Trix were doing their chit-chatting, “so, what’s going on with you and Raffy?” Heart asked Trix “Nothing’s going on between us… I didn’t even know if she courted me…!” “As if, are you that dumb, he said, he like you!” Gella reacted. “Was that it?” asked Trix. “No? That’s not it! Are you that innocent?” Marj answered then they were laughing. Suddenly, Heart’s phone beep… she read the text and smile, as if she was kilig. “Who’s that? Is that your crush? You’re keeping a secret, aren’t you?” asked Marj. “Crush? No… It’s Fred.” “Fred? How long have you been texting?” asked Trix “Since our blind date?” then they were teasing each other, actually not each other, only Heart… and so the bell rang, and she was saved by the bell. But after class, she still didn’t go away with teasing. And then that night, as she was surfing the net, in her own special computer, Fred texted her, “hey! Can we go out this weekend?” then Heart replied. “Yah, sure…” so the following weekend, they went to the mall, watch cinema together for the first time, then to the arcade and to the StarCity. They really enjoyed each other’s company… “So, what made you asked me out?” asked Heart. “Maybe… I just missed you.” answer Fred. Then Fred dropped Heart home. “See you at school…” Then cars away, Heart was really happy, Fred is not her crush or ideal man or something but it seems to her that she enjoyed Fred’s company, then she asked herself, “am I in love with him??” and so, this question is keep on bothering her, every time she sees Fred in school, she felt shy, kilig and etc. and so Marj asked her. “What’s up with you?” “I don’t know. I think I like him.” “Who? Fred?” “Yah.” and so she told Marj everything she feels whenever she is with Fred, “So, is that being in love??” “Maybe, just try to ask Gella or Trix about it.” Then they laughed for no reason. Then suddenly, her phone beep and it was Fred, as she was reading Fred’s message the question she has in mind has disappear for a while. Then that text was followed by another then another then another and before they knew it they were texting each other everyday, almost 24 hours, morning ‘til night. And guess what, they never do ran of topic, even though there different in so many ways they always find a way to enjoy each other’s company. Then, during a Friday night, Fred again invited Heart to go out the next day, but unfortunately Heart disagreed. “Actually, I can’t. I and the girls are going out. We are visiting the orphanage our parents used to visit when we’re young. We’re going to have a gift giving.” She replied. “Okay then, maybe next time.” Fred replied.

But the following day, “I’m so excited!” Gella said. “Me too!” Marj said. “So, let’s go!” said Heart “Okay!” said Trix, but as they are entering the van, Fred showed up. “Can I go with you?” the four girls were shock, especially Heart. Fred isn’t in with that kind of activity, maybe, love can change people and so they went. Heart avoided asking Fred why’d he come but she makes sure that Fred feels comfortable. It took 1 hour for them to arrive at the orphanage, the trip was quiet tiring but when they arrived at their destination, they were revived as they saw the children waiting for them. Then as planned, they gave away toys, played games and eat! As Heart was busy distributing foods to the kids, Trix found a chance to talk with Fred. “Hey, President! What’s up??” asked her, “What do you mean by what’s up?” answered Fred. “How come you’re here? You don’t like this thing, do you? As far as I know you, you would rather sleep at home.” said Trix “I don’t know someone pushed me here!” then looked at Heart with glance. “Do you like her?” asked Trix “Like? Maybe…” “Maybe?!?” said Trix “hmm. Yah, I do… I mean, I enjoyed being with her.” Fine then, I’m not against you. Just be careful… hear me… careful with her!” then they went back to the crowd. And so from on, every Saturday, He and Heart would go out or he would go with them in the orphanage. And so time passed…

Then they didn’t notice it’s already Christmas! They gave each other a gift… Marj gave her friends a fashion necklace. Heart gave her friends an inspirational books, Gella gave them dress printed Kool Princess that she made on her own; Trix gave each a planner for the following years. And as expected, Raffy gave Trix a teddy bear, while Trix gave him a bracelet, she made on her own. Fred also gave a gift to Heart; he gave heart a pet cat! While Heart gave him a bag. Gella unexpected received a gift from Jay; it’s a DVD that Gella always wanted to have the “COLLECTION OF WONDERFUL STUNTS FOR CHEER LEADERS!” Gella also gave Jay a gift; he has bought a month ago, a limited edition basketball that is signed by Jay’s favorite player. Marj on the corner thought that she has herself nothing but Ryan showed up, and it gave her a cute pillow, but Marj didn’t have anything for him, so she asked him to drop by her house. And so, that night, Marj gave Ryan one of her collection of lucky charm, she gave Ryan a shell! “I found that at Batanes! It’s one of the best I have! Be careful with it.” And then starting from that day there friendship became tighter as ever. But the gift giving was not yet done! On Gella’s house, the doorbell rang, a particular visitor came in, “MERRY CHRISTMAS!” exclaimed him. “Charlie! Merry Christmas!” Charlie is the winner in the Math Quiz during the DU Inter – Schools Activity! Charlie has been Gella’s friend since birth; they treat each other as best friends! “So, what’s that you have?” asked Gella. “This is for Tita and Tito and this for you.” as Gella opened it, she was shocked! It was a silver bracelet. “Wow! This is too much!” “Not too much for someone special!” said Charlie then he helped Gella put it on. “Thank You. And here this is for you.” gave Charlie her gift, a collection of paraphernalia’s of Charlie’s favorite Artist, Bob Marley. Then after giving each other a gift, they talked and talked and talked and, “Had a great time. I’d better be going now. Thanks for the gift.” Then Charlie went home. And so the following day, it was Christmas Eve! Everyone was happy, celebrating the birth of our Savior, with their family… and then there awaited New Year’s Eve followed the next week, and they decide to spend it with their friends.
