"Sir, I have a Knox Masters on Line 1 for you, he says it urgent" my PA told me as I stepped out of the lift.
"Give me two minutes" I tell her, closing my office door behind me and putting down my briefcase before picking up the phone.

"Knox?"
"Paul, I need a list of all the competitors who were at the National competition with Amalie, especially those who were at the hotel with her" he barked and I could hear the anger in his voice.
"Why, what's happened?"

"Ama...she" I heard the sound of something breaking at the other end of the line and felt a frisson of fear as August picked up the phone instead of Knox.
"August, what's going on?" I ask worried, thinking back to the national, a brief memory of Lucy saying she was worried about Amalie when she got back, crossing my mind.

"Oh Paul, Amalie has been having nightmares, not been herself since that comp, today she finally told us what was hurting her " she paused and I knew she was gathering her courage to say, what I hoped she wasn't going to say. "Someone spiked her drink and raped her on the last night" she rushed out and I could hear her fighting the emotion in her voice.

"No!" I felt the anger race through my mind as I pictured little Amalie."No, is she, how.. was it another competitor?"
"From what she's told us, she went out to a meal which was fine, then onto a club, were she had one drink, after that her memory is not good, but she was scared to tell Lucy, or anyone else and is blaming herself, she locked it all away hoping to make it unreal, but it's eating away at her" August explained.
"I'll get you all the information and details of the hotel and club, find the bastard, I don't care who he is but he can't get away with this" I tell her.
"Is this why she's turned down the last two events. Does she think he will be there?" I ask and she gasps.
"I didn't know she had turned anything down, she hasn't told us, we should have realised sooner..." I hear August talking to someone her end.
"I'll talk to Lucy, she will need to know. What else do you need from me" I ask.
"Just that information, we can go from there" she replies before saying goodbye.

I buzz the desk "Lindy is Lucy in yet?"
"Not yet sir"
"When she arrives, can you send her to me, it's urgent and hold all calls at that time, unless it's Amalie Masters family"
"Yes sir" she replied.

I thought about Amalie, we had known the family for years, and had represented Amalie for the last four and now at just 18 years old, she reminded me of a young Teddy in many ways, a incredibly talented sportswoman, who people genuinely liked, of this to happen to her and while she was in our care was unbelievable. Lucy was going to be devastated, I know she had spent a lot of time with Amalie as the girl was interested in sports management as a career, they had been talking about Lucy mentoring her. Something like this may tear that dream apart for Amalie.

I heard her voice before she came through the door, raised in concern and got up, knowing that she was going to need my support, She too would blame herself, as was Amalie, whilst the real culprit walks free.

"Paul, what's going on, what's happened?" Lucy asks, scanning over me.
"It's Amalie, her father called this morning with some distressing news" I tell her.
"The national event?" she whispers and I nod, guiding her to a chair "Lu, she went out and someone spiked her drink, she was..." I couldn't say the words but I know Lucy understood as her face paled.
"Who?"
"We don't know... yet. Knox is looking into it, they only found out this morning, he's asked for some information on the competitors. They will find whoever did it, they have the resources and god help the bastard when they catch him"
"And Amalie?" She asks but I can only shake my head.
"She has been hiding from what happened, it sounds like she's just told them, it will take her some time to get over it, but at least now we know, we can all help her heal"

"We will do everything we can to help her, to catch whoever did it" Lucy said raising her eyes to mine and I nod, knowing that even if it was one of our athletes, which I hoped to god it wasn't.  We would choose Amalie above them, she was our priority.
