6. Rio

"You ready for this?" Rome asks as I park the car outside Aunt Lucy's offices and I nod, thinking of all the ways we had come up with to drive the assistant away.

Mom was meeting us there, as she had come into town to visit Lucy for a few days and we would be taking her back with us, after the meeting.

I looked up at the building sitting in the bright sunshine and felt a frisson of awareness creep over me. As if something big was about to happen.
I looked at Rome and he nodded, he had felt it too, "Pre-race nerves feeling?" he questioned and I nodded.

"Come on, let's get up there, before we're late and get another lecture" he groaned and led the way up to the offices.

Lindi greets us and sent us into a conference room to wait, telling us to help ourselves to a drink, before she rushed off to let them know we were here.

We watched the comings and goings of the staff through the glass wall as we drank our water and waited. Our eyes catching on a young girl, no woman who was talking animatedly to Lindi before her head went back as she laughed.

"Yum" Rome growled and I agreed, watching her actions. She naturally drew the eye and I could see quite a few of the male staff looking her way.

"She's stunning, must be new, I haven't seen her here before, I wonder if she's single" Rome muses and I laugh, smacking his arm.
"Hey, its that sort of talk that got us into this mess, remember"
"Oh yeah" he says sadly but keeps watching her, until the door behind her opens and she disappears into Uncle Paul's office, with Aunt Lucy and our Mom.

"Shit" Rome grins "We couldn't be that lucky" and I turn to him confused.
"What?"
"Maybe she's our babysitter" he explains and I shake my head, no, they wouldn't be that nice to us, that little lamb, babysit us, it would be like letting a child loose in a sweet shop.
"God, that would change our plans, I'd want her around for more than a day" I groan and he nods.

We watch the doorway waiting to see what happens, our tension rising as the time drags on and then, the door opens and she is the first one out of the door, and looking directly at us, her face flushing red as she sees us watching.

She jumps as Uncle Paul says something to her and she turns to nod to him before they all head our way.

We slouch back in our seats, watching her approach and grinning.
"Game on" I whisper and bump fists with Rome.
"Game on" he agrees.

"Good morning boys" Aunt Lucy, says coming into the room first and we our mumble greetings back, getting up to hug her and mom, and bro hug Uncle Paul, before turning to the girl.

"Rio and Rome Kingswood, meet Amalie Masters, my assistant" Aunt Lucy introduces and we look at the nervous beauty in front of us.

I step forward first, taking her hand and pulling her into a hug as I say "Hello"

I feel her body freeze as her face blushes bright red and I step back, allowing Rome to move in, and watching him leaning in to kiss her cheek, before raising her hand to his lips as he grins.

Aunt Lucy's introduction replaying in my mind "Your assistant?" I question looking at her.

"Yes Rio, my assistant, now sit down and we can get on with the meeting" she says and we all sit down.

"Now, following the recent issues, I'm glad you both agree to have us assign you any assistant, we've decided that James Stone will be ideal to keep you on track, he will be joining us in a moment.  His role will be to make sure that the negative press you have received recently stops and he will plan your training schedule and arrange transport to and from events" Uncle Paul tells us and I exchange a look with Rome.  

Looks like we will be using our plans after all.
