I look at the message in disbelief. Rereading it twice before it sank in.
"Mom" I shout going in search of her. "MOM!"
I found her in the kitchen with cook and she smiled innocently at me. "You hollered youngest fruit of my loins""Urg Mom really!" I shuddered at her words, seriously she was batty as a fruitcake some days. "Mom have you spoken to Aunt Lucy?" I scowl and she just grins.
"About what in particular, sweetie"I narrow my eyes at her, "You know, you know what Aunt Lucy is suggesting" I growled and she laughed.
"Of course, and I thinks it's a wonderful idea" she says, helping herself to a cookie, cook had just placed on the cooling rack."Mom, we don't need a babysitter" I moan, reaching for one, only to have my hand smacked away.
"Yes, you do, your future is at risk if you keep doing stupid things" she argues."Rio won't agree" I warn her and she pins me with her serious mom look.
"Rio has no choice, neither do you, this will happen Rome, get used to the idea"
"Mom come on, please" I groan but she just shakes her head at me as I storm away to find Rio.I track him down to the gym, where he's half way through his workout with Jack our personal trainer.
"Out" Jack shouts when he see's me at the door and I grin at him. An ex army major, he had barred us from training together when he was there, as we mucked about too much and drove him nuts, now he focused on individual sessions with us and monitoring our training schedules during those."Jack, I need five minutes with Rio, it's urgent" I plead and he nods.
"Five minutes" and I rush across the room, holding my phone out in front of me.
"Look at this!" I mutter and Rio takes the phone."What the hell. No, Have you spoken to mom?" he curses and I nod.
"She's on their side" I tell him and he groans.
"Shit, we're not that bad" he moans and I hear a grunt across the gym and Jack calls out.
"Oh yes you are!""What do we do?" I ask him and he grins evilly.
"They want us to have a babysitter, then fine, I'll give them a day before we drive them away" he says quietly, so Jack can't hear us, and I laugh "I bet we can chase them off faster than that" I agree.Jack clears his throat "Five minutes are up, Rome, get out and Rio, get back to it" he barks and we salute him and do as instructed.
I head back towards the kitchen to find Mom, but find her outside dads study, looking sneaky.
"Mom what are you doing" I ask loudly making her jump and turn to face me, then looking guilty as the study door opens and Papa Niko is stood there, grinning at Mom, who fidgets under his gaze."Something I can help you with baby?" he growls at her and I watch her flush red, damn parents and their PDA.
Mom shakes her head and Papa chuckles "Naughty girl, were you eavesdropping?" he asks her and she shakes her head, eyes wide.
"Nooo" she says innocently, pouting up at Papa, who towers over her."Then did you want me for something?" he asks teasingly and I can see moms mind trying to come up with something...
"Tea?" she says quickly and we both laugh at her, before papa leans down to kiss her.
"Tea would be most welcome baby" and he swats her bottom before returning to the study and closing the door.I was still grinning at the byplay between them, they're embarrassing as hell but their love can never be doubted, when mom turned back to me and hissed.
"You gave me away" she accused.
"No. I didn't" I argue and she stomps off to the kitchen with me following."Mom, i've spoken to Rio and we agree to have the assistant" I tell her and she turns suspicious eyes my way.
"Hmm, what are you up too?"
"Mom, if you and Aunt Lucy think this will help us, then we will give it our all" I say smiling at her, knowing our all will be focused on chasing off, not working with the guy."I'll let Lucy know and she can arrange a meeting" she says slamming tea cups onto a tray and I grin, waving as I head up to my room, planning a thousand ways to drive the assistant nuts.
