Azania had it all figured out. Her entire life was already pre-planned before she was born. At least that's what it looked like from the outside. She knew how to present herself on the outside, regardless of the voice in her head that continued to tell her to do the opposite. Her mother did everything in her power to cover up her daughter's mental health issues from the general public and the rest of the family, afraid that it would tarnish their family's image. That was until a scandal happened that was so grand, Inez had no choice but to send Nia away to be able to do damage control.
Careem couldn't remember a time when life was ever great for him. He always heard stories growing up about how great his parents were, and how their names rung bells throughout the Bay Area. The only memories Reem seems to have of his parents are visiting his father behind bars, and watching his mother dedicate her life to cocaine and alcohol. Now it's left to him to help his grandmother support his three younger siblings and now ten month old daughter, while still trying to stay on the right path and graduate college. Careem thought his ten year plan was solid, but he learns quickly the extremes one will go through when times are hard.
Careem and Azania are from two different walks of life. Their paths were never set up to ever cross. Yet, the universe has a funny way of making things happen.
