"On nights like this, I ride
Turn the music up to keep from crying
Wait 'til that sunshine
Please don't let the darkness keep me low
Halfway to the home base, yeah
Like a field trip, woah
It's a real trip
I'm asking who can save me?
You can, baby"

I glanced down at my watch, trying my hardest to stay calm. Rashad was supposed to be here over thirty minutes ago with my weed. I smoked my last blunt this morning before meeting with my real estate agent about finding potential building space. I've been in back to back meetings all damn day just to come home to my house that's still semi furnished thanks to my interior decorator ordering shit that wasn't in stock.

I pulled out my phone, dialing Rashad's number. As soon as the phone started ringing a silver Honda pulled into my driveway. I scrunched up my face at how dated the car is. I know damn well this isn't what Shad is riding around in now. I ended the call and quickly made my way to the front entrance, swinging the door open. I folded my arms across my chest, waiting for him to get out the car.

"My bad about the delay. I kind of got lost trying to find this house. I've never been this deep in the hills." A smooth voice that doesn't belong to Rashad called out. I lifted my eyebrow, waiting for the light to hit him so I could see his face. As soon as I got a good look at him I knew immediately that he'd be the one making my drops from now on. "Nia, right?"

"Correct, come in." I responded while nodding back towards my door. "Rashad didn't tell me he wasn't going to be the one delivering tonight."

"My bad. I'm Careem, I don't normally do these but Shad had plans with his girl tonight so I'm doing it this one time for him." I rose my eyebrow in wonder while watching him walk into my house.

"I might prefer you over Rashad. We'll see how the night goes. Wait, did Rashad tell you how my drops are?"

"He told me that you prefer company until you fall asleep. You just moved in?" He questioned while looking around the scarcely decorated space that is my living room. The only rooms that are fully furnished are the master bedroom, my backyard and my dining room. The ball was dropped on everything else.

"Yes, and my interior decorator clearly dropped the ball. Where are you from?" I walked past him, making my way outside to the fire pit that sat in front of my infinity pool.

"I was born in Sacramento, raised in Oakland. From your accent I know you aren't from America." I heard his voice behind me so I knew he was following me. Hopefully he knows how to roll, because I can't do it to save my life which is one of the main reasons why I make Rashad stay after a drop; to prep all of my blunts for me. That and the fact that I do enjoy the company.

I don't want to admit that I'm lonely so I makeup excuses to keep him around longer, even if it's basically me paying for his friendship. The money also helps from having his girlfriend get the wrong impression of our relationship. Rashad is very attractive, I'm just not sexually attracted to him. Besides, once a man tells me he's in any type of relationship my view of them changes. I will never be a side piece or compete for a spot. I keep trying to have Rashad introduce me to his girlfriend, but he loves to make it clear that we're not that close regardless of how many years we've been dealing with each other.
