Since Eddie and Richie had started dating, Richie had always received a goodbye kiss from Eddie. No matter what the rush or where they were, Eddie would kiss him goodbye. Richie had fallen into the routine around the couple's 2 month anniversary. When they got the call from Mike telling them to come back to Derry, they both had a pestering thought in the back of their minds,
One of these kisses were to be their last.

The Losers were back in the Neibolt House once again.
"To finally kill this fucking clown" Richie would put it.
Eddie was equipped with his 'clown-killing' spear and was about to spear his head.
"You can do it Eddie!" he heard Bev exclaim.
He had never been so frightened in his entire life, not only was his life in danger, but his friend's and HIS BOYFRIEND'S lives were dangerously close to ending. He watched as Eddie put the spear right through It's head. He smiled in triumph and ran over to Richie,
"I killed it, 'Chee! I did it!"
Richie could not be more proud of his boyfriend for finally facing the gruesome monster. He pulled Eddie close and kissed him. The kiss was filled with the salty taste of tears and was stopped abruptly when a choked sob sounded from Eddie.
CHNGK-
The clown had got him with one of his razor-sharp talons, impaling him completely through his abdomen. Eddie looked up at Richie who was frantically trying to stop the blood from flowing freely from the wound. He picked up Eddie and brought him to lay down ad the other Losers started to try and figure a way to kill Pennywise for good.
"Richiee I don't wanna die."
"You aren't gonna die, baby. We're gonna kill this clown and take you to a hospital and we'll be home in no time"
Eddie let out a choked sigh and pulled Richie into a kiss. When they pulled apart, Eddie whispered one, heart-breaking sentence to Rich,
Goodbye. I love you.
With that, Eddie's hand felt cold and his body slumped against the rock. Eddie was gone.
Richie screamed his name but only the blank, staring eyes of his boyfriend answered.
