a/n I know that I said updates would be once a week but I also said fuck it and I'm writing out of sheer inspiration.  Also, give the song above a listen, its amazing and my choir class is doing it for a concert.  Also, they are around 15 in this, five years after the first time they defeated It.  For the sake of the writer, this is in the modern era.

3rd person POV but in Eddie's perspective

It had been about five years after The Losers had defeated It.  Shortly after they did, Richie and Eddie had started dating.  Eddie loved every minute of it.  What he loved most was the fact that Richie didn't make him feel bad for needing comfort in the early hours of the morning.  Since they had fought It, Eddie had gotten terrible nightmares filled with terrible images of losing Richie, his friends, and even his family.  Tonight, he knew, was especially bad when he woke up practically shrieking for Richie.  He grabbed his phone in a rush and called Richie.

"Hey, Eds.  What's the matter? It's 4 am."

"'Chee, can you come over? I had a dream." Eddie had said, trying not to show how badly the dream had upset him.

"Yeah, Eddie. I'll be there in 10 minutes."

With that, Eddie heard the click that meant Richie had hung up and was getting ready to get to his house.  Eddie sat up against the wall on his bed and tried to steady his breathing.  He must've lost track of time because the next thing he knew, a kiss had been planted on his forehead and Richie was sitting next to him.  Eddie whimpered and hugged his boyfriend as if scared he would lose him.

"Eds, baby, what happened. Can you tell me what's wrong?" Richie said, rubbing lazy circles into Eddie's back. Eddie slowly sat up and dried his eyes.  He hadn't noticed that he was crying until now.

"I-I had a dream that I-I-It got you and you were dying in my arms and I was so paralyzed by f-fear that I couldn't help you and you died and everyone was yelling at me that it was my fault and they were punching at me and-and-" Eddie was sobbing again, pulling at his brown locks.  Richie grabbed his hands, holding them in his own and drying Eddie's eyes.

"Eddie, look at me. It's okay.  I'm here and safe. You're safe. It's okay." Richie pulled him into his arms and started to hum a tune that Eddie soon picked up on.  Richie had always had the softest voice, perfect for this song.

"Close your eyes, lay your head down

Now it's time to sleep
May you find great adventure
As you lie and dream
If you're scared of the darkness

I will calm your fear
There's a light in the hallway
So you know I'm here''

Richie had laid them both down, letting Eddie cuddle up to him. Eddie could feel all of his worries soon lifting off of his shoulders. His eyes began to droop.

"So count your blessings every dayIt makes the monsters go awayAnd everything will be okayYou are not aloneYou are right at homeGoodnight, goodnight"

Eddie was soon asleep, breathing softly against Richie's neck.  Richie smiled at him.  He knew that Eddie went through a lot and was just glad that he was still here today.  For Richie to care for him, love him, and cherish him.

"You won't need me forever
But I'll still be here
For we all have our nightmares
Even me, my dear
From now on, if you need me
You can sing this song
There's a light in the hallway
Burning all night long"

Richie saw that Eddie was very much asleep and maneuvered himself out of his boyfriend's grasp.  He had to make it back to his house or Mrs. K would have his head.  He snuck quickly out of the window and into the morning dusk that came around 6 am.  He ran home knowing that Eddie would wake up soon anyway and he would see him soon.
