A steady rhythm pounded in Eddie's head as he walked into school that Monday morning.

He was trying desperately to avoid Richie.

What if he remembers?

"Eddie!"

Eddie whipped around to face a smiling Bev.

"Are you okay?" Her brows furrowed with concern; she brought a hand to his forehead. "You're really warm."

I need to talk to someone about this. Beverly might understand.

"I need to talk to you."

Gripping Beverly's hand, Eddie makes a beeline dash for the one place only he goes... the school garden.

"Woah...? I didn't know the school had a garden." She stared at everything in childlike wonder, absent mindingly pulling out a cigarette.

Eddie rolled his eyes and dragged her over to a small clearing.

He sat down motioning for her to do the same.

"So, what's up?" Bev grinned.

Swallowing the lump in his throat, Eddie told her everything that he had remembered about the night before.

"Oh my god." She murmured, bringing a hand to her mouth in disbelief.

Eddie squirmed under her gaze uncomfortably, he hoped to god that he didn't regret telling her.

"Do you think... that I'm... you know-"

"What? Gay?" He was cut off by Beverly who said quite bluntly.

His eyes widened and he brought a finger to his lips franticly trying to make her shut up.

"It's not up to me Eddie. You get to decide what your sexuality is." She had lowered her voice appreciatively. "But just know, the losers will support you no matter what."

She wrapped her arms around the fragile boy.

Eddie broke down into tears, sobbing furiously into Bev's shoulder.

"Aw Eddie! Don't cry, it's okay!" She patted him awkwardly on the back.

After calming down slightly, Eddie smiled and whispered, "Thank you Bev."

She smirked and replied, "Just if you and Rich ever get together, you owe me $20!"

Eddie gave her a hard shove but rolling his eyes, he agreed to the bet.

It's not ever going to happen so jokes on her.

"School time!" Beverly sneers, waving her arms about in a sarcastic gesture.
