PROLOGUE.

Selena Flores was born in a complicated family.
At Mexico, drugs ran trough all of that family's shit.

Grandparents, uncles, cousins, her parents. Everyone was involved. Everyone's blood was filled with shit. With the worst kind of shit.

Her mom loved her enough to convince her dad to not get her into that mess, so they sent her to the only clean family member, uncle Joaquin, who lived in Arizona.

And so she lived some pretty good and out of trouble 15 years.
Selena grew up as a good girl with him. As a good person.
She knew Joaquin was her uncle, but she stopped asking about her parents after he told her he didn't want that to fuck her up. She was smart, and she didn't want anything to fuck her up.

But that's exactly what would happen years later.

When she was 15 they had to move to California, because after all, both of them had Flores as their last name, and information runs fast.
Dangerous people were looking for them.

The only positive thing about that last name was the fact that Selena's parents kept sending, a lot, of money to her child.

The first person she saw when she arrived was Maddy.
They were in the car, a few minutes away from their new house, and then she saw her through the window. And oh, was she hot.

Selena observed her face as much as she could, she was going to find her and talk to her some other day. She definitely had to talk to that girl. But that thought immediately faded into the background when she noticed the blonde girl walking to Maddy's direction.
She made eye contact with the blonde for a second, and then she thought it wouldn't be that bad in that place.

Uncle Joaquin was having some troubles. He started receiving weird phone calls and messages, but he knew exactly the reason why.
He really actually loved Selena, as a daughter. He raised her, and he wanted to keep her safe, but he knew he couldn't keep moving her across the country.
Well, he could, but he didn't want to.

One week had passed since they arrived there, and she already had that stupid happy smile glued to her face.
So he just talked to her about how important was that she had to take care of herself, avoid walking alone at night, not even be alone. But again, she wasn't stupid, she knew something was up, so eventually the truth accidentally came out of Joaquin's mouth during a stupid discussion.

And she didn't take it nicely.

Maybe things would have been different if the man would have chosen another words to express it, but he's kind of impulsive.
Selena said some stupid things to him, and he made some terrible choices of words.
He started by telling her that she was weak, and that was the reason her parents didn't want her.
And after that he had no choice but to apologize and explain.
He had to explain how her parents were criminals, but they actually loved her and were only looking to keep her out of trouble. But she only heard the part "they were criminals", and that she was weak. After that her head shutted everything else.

She was mad, and upset.
She thought she was strong but apparently not.
She was worth less than drugs.

That's when the question came to her mind.
If drugs were more important for a dad than their kid, then drugs must be a big deal,
right?
That wouldn't stay a mystery for too long.
