After getting a text from Maddy inviting her to watch a movie at her place, Selena found herself on the girl's bed with the laptop screen in front of them as they occupied themselves with ice cream. 10 things I hate about you, suggestion of Selena, playing on the screen.

"I can't believe you've never watched this" Selena mumbled, enthralled by Heath Ledger's curls and charming smile and Julia Stiles' hypnotizing dance moves.

"Yeah and I was right. It's cheesy as fuck" Maddy answered, laying her head on her shoulder as she kept her eyes fixed on the screen. It was a good movie. Not that she'd acknowledge it, her friend's ego didn't need another win. She was already right about too many things.

As soon as Selena got to the house, immediately excitedly greeted in Spanish by Maddy's mom, she couldn't help but to feel confused that it was just her that got the invitation.

It had been a while since the last time the pair hung out only by themselves, and Selena wasn't too excited about the possibility of details of the carnival night slipping out with Maddy's conversational abilities.

Her confusion only grew bigger as she noticed the shorter girl's demeanor; she got to the movie immediately, allowed her to pick what to watch, and never once interrupted for some sort of commentary. She seemed awfully quiet, and the shameless ingestion of carbs wasn't common either.

Selena mistakenly came to the conclusion that she was simply suffering from a drop of serotonin after the molly on Friday, and needed some neutral company to feel better.

She was completely clueless about the fact that they both had secrets about that night that they wanted to keep as far away from each other as possible. But, Maddy did need the company.

As the silent watching carried on, Selena couldn't help but to let her head linger to the topic of the month: men.

As much as she tried to resist, she wondered if men like Cameron or Patrick existed, and although their whereabouts were completely irrelevant to her, she still hoped they did.

She hoped so because she desperately needed Maddy to meet a boy like that. But she was uninterested in finding them herself because she was more than occupied with a certain blonde's scent lingering around her memories to even think about the possibility of looking for boys.

Yet she couldn't help but to yearn for something like what the two main characters had. Maybe not the whole 'serenading on the bleachers' thing, but more of the meaningful declarations and the way they grew to care so much for one another.

Apart from all that, and despite the fact that her chat with Lexi was far from being the most relevant part of that night, what she said to her still got stuck somewhere between the wrinkles of her brain.

The idea of her so called 'obsession' with Nate wasn't something she was fond of, and she cursed Lexi for even bringing it up, since now she had to question the possibility. That's just how her brain worked, and she hated it.

It was like a malfunctioning machine that got stuck every once in a while and repeated the same product over and over again, only until something else came to take its place so the process can start over.

So maybe she was just obsessed with everything. Lexi was a smart girl, maybe she knew what she was talking about, and it wasn't just about being obsessed Nate Jacobs, but about being obsessed with anything that managed to make its way into her broken machine of a brain.
