Where I'm From

I am from many places
From sunshine to the shiny gold
But orange blossoms always seemed to grow the prettiest
Roses will always be my favorite to look at and smell
You can hear the icy snow crunch between your gloved fingers
How cold it felt to make snow angels next to your silly cousin

The sound of laughter and "I found one" fills the backyard Easter air
The sweet taste of maple brown sugar hams and buttery homemade mashed potatoes
Small fur balls rubbing against your leg, begging for attention
Dressing up one of the bigger fur balls in 'American Girl' doll clothes
Sitting in laundry baskets singing to my favorite singers
Running around trying to catch the small green lizards that tried to climb the walls

A long car ride that was drowned out by my imagination playing like a movie screen
Hot summer days spent at freezing beach waters
Oatmeal never being eaten ever again after a simple incident
Stories being created in a matter of seconds
Laughter fills the air yet again as well as inside jokes
Sadness becoming overwhelming and slowly turning into hope

I am from bad times turned good or the other way around
I am from overwhelming sadness
I am from laughter and joy
I am from friends and family
I am from many places
But all of theses places mean nothing without you

I actually created this poem for my English class. I was really excited that I got to create a poem. I'm actually trying to write a short story for a contest a teacher posted about but homework comes first in my family. So yeah. I hope you all enjoy your day. Bear out.
